I never understand why that's become the new norm, letting the manufacturers paint up the truck when it's not funded, it's not a good attention grabber. It would at least be a nice compromise between those of us who still like to see a year-long championship battle. We could at least have that in owner points. Having an owners' chase, especially in the lower series, is more confusing than anything. 120. This puts Chastain 24th in points, just 10 points out of 20th. He should easily move up into the top 20 after the next race and be comfortably in a playoff position. He could potentially climb as high as 12th before the playoffs begin. Meanwhile, Ben Rhodes' engine failure has suddenly made his playoff spot questionable and gives Harrison Burton hope of making it in on points. Burton has closed to just 13 points behind Rhodes for what would currently be the final playoff spot on points, and he has been running well lately, with 3 top 5s in the last 4 races. Rhodes, unfortunately, has had 2 mechanical-related DNFs during the same period of time. 121. Interesting. 122. GoPM21 posted: 06.29.2019 - 4:32 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @116 There's a distinct difference between the three, however. Parked--Ordered off the track because of a rules violation or failing to "follow a NASCAR directive". Michael Waltrip was once parked for jacking his car up under Casey Mears' @ Richmond about 10 years ago as another example. Too slow--Car is mechanically incapable of meeting the minimum speed requirement. This was somewhat frequent in 2004 when NASCAR had trouble filling the field with 43 cars. Doesn't apply to crashed cars. dvp--Newer rule, I believe this is enacted when a car exhausts their time on the 6:00 clock for damage repair. 123. That move just killed Enfinger's night. 124. rm posted: 06.29.2019 - 9:06 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Fun with statistical oddities: 4 of Grant Enfinger's top five laps-led performances in his Truck career have come in the last 6 races. At Kansas, Texas, Gateway and Chicagoland he either led the most laps or the second-most laps. His best finish in those four races though is just 4th unfortunately. He's actually led laps in 9 of the 12 races this season, yet has not been able to pull off a win - brutal. 125. Back in the day young drivers would spend several years at their local track, or in a regional touring series, before moving up to the national series. But now, everyone wants to find (or be) the next Kyle Busch, and drivers are brought along before they've had time to develop their talent, or for car owners to evaluate them as prospects. So it's not unsurprising that a lot of young drivers turn out to not have talent, and not deserve a ride at the national series level. I don't see it changing, tho. The benefits of finding a once-in-a-generation driver like Busch are so great that bringing drivers up early and hoping their talent develops will be the norm for the forseeable future. 128.
