Not that 35 is huge, but for a west coast race with no Benning, only 1 JJC truck, and teams like DGR-Crosley being down to 1 this year, 35 is a good number 7. Not much irks me more than seeing a truck (or xfinity) race Kyle Busch is entered and reading "congrats Kyle Busch" or "not watching this one" or "boycottthisgarbage" etc. Just watch the damn race. Did ya'll see the 5 he raced in 2018? He only won 2. The 7 he raced in 2017? He only won 3. Yes he went 5 for 5 last year, but I can remember reading those comments in 2018. I don't find it fair for Brett Moffitt or Johnny Sauter to race because of their experience level and they are in top rides. Oh well. They have the right to race. I watch anyways because I like nascar and the truck series 18. Timothy_Eklund posted: 02.18.2020 - 6:23 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) Plus the trucks at intermediates are AMAZING. The trucks very often put on the most entertaining show of the weekend, maybe because of the mix of skill levels among the drivers or because they're trucks and not cars. Barring an equipment failure or uncharacteristic driver error, of course Kyle is going to stink up the place but there will surely be some good racing from 2nd place on back. 34. Led so many laps, won each stage, the race, somehow got a 6 or 7 second lead by the end of the race. But what you missed was Eckes holding his own against his boss, Creed racing him on TWO restarts for 10 or more laps side by side @163 no don't ban Kyle Busch from the series. He wouldn't be negatively affecting it at all if it weren't for fans who cry every time he enters a race that isn't the cup series. Ban him from trucks? Then he shuts down his truck team (as he should if that was the case). Then the truck series loses its #1 supplier of young talent with a top equipment opportunity. Ok, ok. GMS has Zane Smith, Creed, Ankrum plus Mayer getting all the starts he can. But Ankrum wasn't a GMS driver, he was with Toyota & DGR-Crosley. Idk much about Zane, but he was with Chevy and JRM last year. And if you want to call Moffitt young, he was taken from Hattori because they didn't have the money to keep him. 167. This is probably the deepest field we've had in several years, with just the right mix of exciting prospects and veterans/likely series lifers (a stark contrast to the Xfinity field, which only has about 10 competitive cars in it and half of them are filled with marginal at best talents if not straight up ride buyers). There should realistically be close to 15 drivers with the potential to mix it up for wins this year, especially after You-Know-Who's five races are up. 173. No Kyle Busch in the Truck Series also means no KBM in the Truck Series, so many people will lose their work and many young talented rookies won't have an opportunity to prove themselves. And why? Because of some fools that have a problem with one Cup driver running very limited schedule in his own equipment... There's a reason why NASCAR didn't change the maximum amount of races Cup drivers can run in Trucks for the 3 straight year and I bet this statement has something to do with it. By the way - didn't those same people claim that Kyle Busch runs too many lower series races and that he should run no more than 5? The series would survive without Kyle or his team, with fools like you stroking his ego making him think he is the only reason the series survives is one reason he is the only cup leetch stinking up the show. The majority of fans dont want to watch Kyle beating a bunch of kids and see his arrogant face act like he accomplished something special, and I guarantee the other drivers hate it too but they are forbidden to say anything. Kyle drives more fans off than he brings in so Nascar letting him stink up the show is hurting this series more than anything. 175. But before KBM there was KHI, RCR, Hendrick, DEI, Roush, I think even Gibbs owned a truck. NONE of those teams exist in trucks anymore (along with BKR). There are 3 top tier teams in the series: GMS, KBM, and ThorSport. Who has ThorSport brought in? Cameron Hayley? Rico Abreu? I can't think of any other young drivers they've had other than guys who started elsewhere (like GMS with Moffitt & Ankrum). How about Ben Rhodes? He's still young...in his 5th full time truck season, he could be the next Crafton (I like Crafton) at best. I'm sure fools like me, me included "stroking his ego" really is why he keeps racing a truck. I'm sure he reads these c9mment sections and the 0 tweets I've sent him. I wouldn't call Sauter, Crafton, Moffitt, Enfinger or Friesen kids. And yea, let's get everyone to stick to 1 series. That way we can get another Bubba Wallace, William Byron, Ty Dillon, Austin Dillon, heck even Ryan Blaney- have success in the trucks, but then when they get to the Cup series, where they have to race Kyle anyway, they do nothing. I know Blaney & Austin have 5 wins but none of them are very convincing/deserved. You know what I don't want to see? Joey Logano stink up a race. Guess what. I'm a nascar fan and won't let my distaste for 1 driver ruin my life or make me not watch. Sure he doesn't run trucks or xfinity anymore or as often (xfinity) anyway, but I still can't stand him and hate when he wins. But, he's got the right to be there just like you, me and Kyle Busch. I see that a lot of people don't like Kyle, but if I were in his shoes, I'd be outraged that I don't get to run as often as I wish and have a very limited schedule. Something else to think about is sponsors. Niece Motorsports had Ross Chastain out there with no sponsor. Ty had iracing and Natale surprisingly didn't have her usual N29. Brett Moffitt had Allegiant, his boss's airline company. Safelite has been with the 18 team for a few years now, and JBL, Sirius and Mobil 1 have been with the 4 for years. 177. We have 3 fewer truck teams in all 23 races, and consequently, fewer opportunities for young drivers to move up. For example, yesterday's field wouldn't have been one iota smaller than it was even if Kyle went home and took his 3 trucks with him, because the 3 trucks who didn't make the race would have replaced those 3. Maybe Forrister, Cobb & whoever lack the star power of Kyle's squad (would the stands have been even emptier then?) but the outcome of the race would actually have been in some doubt and that's a good part of what sports are about. Perhaps with a better chance of making the field in the future, some other teams would get into the business (or conversely, some other teams wouldn't have folded up). Let's just say I don't buy the theory that Kyle Busch's philanthropy is the only thing keeping the Truck series going. 214. Exactly, but that doesn't mean Kyle Busch will cancel his remaining starts... 279. AlexBowman88Fan posted: 03.10.2020 - 12:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 11 owner is now Spencer Davis 280. Minimum Recommended Inflation: Left Front ? 18 psi; Left Rear ? 18 psi; Right Front ? 48 psi; Right Rear ? 44 psi Storyline ? Tires are a critical part of the equation at Atlanta: The track surface at Atlanta Motor Speedway is perhaps the most worn ? and the hardest on tires ? on the entire NASCAR Cup Series schedule. It is also the track most likely to have teams pit short of their fuel window in order to take fresh tires. The other side of that statement is that Atlanta produces great racing with tire management being a critical part of the race day equation, as some drivers race hard early in a run and cut through the field while others ?conserve? their tires for later in a run when they can get those spots back and sometimes more. One thing is for sure ? teams will pit for four tires at every opportunity. With 13 sets of Goodyear Eagles for race day (12 race sets plus another set transferred from qualifying or practice), Cup pit crews will be busy all day and play a big part in the outcome of the race. One other note ? Atlanta is a track where Goodyear runs its multi-zone tread right-side tire and is where this technology debuted in NASCAR in 2013. ?Tires are always something teams and fans think about when NASCAR makes its annual stop at Atlanta Motor Speedway,? said Greg Stucker, Goodyear's director of racing. ?With the abrasive track surface, tires are an important part of the race. Tire management often comes into play as those drivers that are easier on their tires early in a run will profit from that later on. Teams will opt for four tires on every stop, even after just a handful of laps if the opportunity presents itself. That also draws in the team aspect of our sport as the pit crews will be very busy with 13 sets of tires for the race.? Notes ? New tire set-up for all NASCAR teams at Atlanta: Teams in all three NASCAR Series will run the same tire set-up at Atlanta this week . . . this is the first time these teams have run either of these two Goodyear tire codes . . . compared to what was run at Atlanta last year, for Cup and Xfinity teams, both this left-side and right-side tire feature construction updates to align with what is run at other speedways . . . for Truck teams, this tire set-up features the same construction updates, but also a compound change on the left-side tire (more grip) compared to what they ran at Atlanta in 2019 . . . this right-side tire is a multi-zone tread tire, with a two-inch inboard compound designed for heat resistance (Endurance Zone) and a 10-inch outboard compound to give more grip (Traction Zone) . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run liners in all four tire positions at Atlanta . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire. 284. 34McDowellFan posted: 03.10.2020 - 5:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Spencer Davis owns his own truck now? Jake posted: 03.10.2020 - 7:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I mean, I don't think cup drivers is THAT bad of a deal in the lower series. Earnhardt, and Mark Martin went heavy on it during the 90's. And when the truck series began a lot of cup drivers dipped their feet in the water. I think the real problem is the quality of the equipment. And I understand Truck owners probably aren't loaded like the cup series guys, so I'm not sure what could be done. In all honesty I think NASCAR should allow points to be ran in all three series again. If a driver wants to do it, more power to him. I don't think a guy should be punished for being able to do it. All in all, NASCAR needs to figure out how to boost the popularity of the lower series altogether. I really think NASCAR dropped the ball handling the Truck series. It could be so much better, but maybe there's a reason the popularity never took off. 291. Wil posted: 03.10.2020 - 8:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @22 Hasn't the Truck series surpassed the Xfinity series in terms of approval rating? I agree-- the Truck series is spectacular, and if marketed better could really boost the entire industry. Marcus Lemonis--Gander RV CEO who is worth about a trillion dollars--should focus on that, and I like what he did by matching Harvick's bounty. I feel like he could have REALLY juiced the pot if he quadrupled his bounty, so anyone who beat KB could take home a quarter of a million. Talk about generating discussion about the series! And Lemonis could do it, because again, he has unlimited money. 292. ThatGuy posted: 03.10.2020 - 8:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @22 I agree, they should be allowed to collect points. Especially with them being restricted to 5 races (which I think should be raised- leave the races like Texas 2, Iowa, Gateway, Canada and playoffs as races with no Cup drivers) One thing I always go to is (as you alluded to) Greenfield, Ciccarelli, Hill bros, Reaume bros, Cobb, Benning, Self, even Young all enter the majority of the races but don't have the equipment/funding that GMS, ThorSport, KBM, Friesen have. Also, Childress, Hendrick, Roush and Gibbs (among others) used to have truck teams but shut them down. I don't know if they were LOSING money, but shutting down only hurts the series further. I think something to consider is more Cup guys having their own teams. With Jr only owning Xfinity teams, Harvick & Keselowski had teams and shut them down, I don't think it'll ever happen. Maybe we could have more partnerships happen like Haas getting Tony Stewart to join him. Of course sponsorships would need to be obtained as well, but sponsors would be more likely to join if a Cup driver was gonna wheel the truck for some races. These 2nd level teams could become top tier, low level teams could improve to what mid-level teams were 293. Following the previous race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 2014 NASCAR Cup series champion Kevin Harvick had set a $50,000 bounty for any Cup drivers to race in Truck and beat Kyle Busch in any of the four races he will participate in (This race, then the following two weeks at Homestead and Texas, then a couple months later at Kansas). Chase Elliott is also set to race at Kansas. Gander RV CEO Marcus Lemonis also matched Kevin Harvick's price and is doubled to $100,000. The prizes go to either John Hunter Nemechek, Brennan Poole or Chase Elliott if either were to beat Kyle Busch. As for the previous comments; It would still count if Kyle Busch were to purposely crash or park in the closing laps if any Cup regulars were to be ahead of him, correct? Also to note, this is Chase Elliott's home track. Wouldn't it be something if he were to actually win the race and the bounty, as Chase never won at the Atlanta racetrack before. 299.
