But, it's my opinion on what happened, sort of like what happened in the 2003 Ford 200, except no intentional wrecks. 7. With nearly three months off, they had a lot to deals to make up for and probably sold them all off in earlier races in case the sport shuta down again. Smaller teams were likely looking for an opportunity to race without having to qualify, not realizing the fields would be much larger than normal. 8. It was thought Bowman was going to drive for Niece at Atlanta but this turned out to be untrue, even before the delays 15. Sure it's only been 5 races, but that's longer than any other deal he's tried to put together. Truly making Roger Carter proud, wherever he's in jail these days. 25. Maybe Al Niece will enter a 4th truck, or DGR a 2nd (considering they had up to 5 a couple times last year) or a 3rd from Young's (ran 3 trucks last year). Heck even a 4th KBM truck with an ARCA driver (Michael Self, Drew Dollar...unfortunately Hailie Deegan is a Ford girl now) Also it's crazy that this race would've been held March 20th. Homestead was moved up from November, the final race of the year (a slot it held since 2002). That date would have been 23 years and 4 days after John Nemechek's crash here, and 1 day shy of the 23rd anniversary of his death 31. Football or Basketball can't allow athletes into the lower series because it's more complicated and sophisticated. While it is more important and difficult to race in the top series of NASCAR, at the very least the fields are more fair in all 3 series. Oh yeah, they're not allowed. Do you think Lebron James is going back to play some on a NBA developmental team to just pad his stats and dominate? Do the MLB homerun hitters participate in minor league home run derby? I get that it's good time to time to have the Cup guys in Xfinity (5-7 races at the most per year), but they rarely should be in Trucks (3 races at the most per year). There's such a big discrepancy in equipment that's intolerable to watch. The guys in the series aren't "learning" how to race to win. Which takes the fun out of them. Re @11 @154 "So Chase Elliott basically does the same thing as Kevin Harvick 10 years ago - he's running all these races just to make sure Kyle Busch doesn't win them all and so far, he only succeeded once at Charlotte. And just like Harvick, even Elliott will fail." Did Chase Elliott say that's what he is doing? And you're saying that Harvick failed in 2010? He won half the races he entered in Trucks (3 out of 6). He did the same in 2009. And he won four out of 10 races in 2011. He won three Xfinity races in 2010 as well. So he failed? That's interesting. In 2006, Busch attempted to race the whole season in the Xfinity series like Harvick, but he was so far behind in points leader Harvick he didn't even attempt to run the Memphis race late in the season. That year Harvick had 32 top-10 finishes and nine wins. Hendrick had to put Justin Labonte in to drive for him at Memphis. Also, in 2010 Busch had a lot better financial backing and better equipment than what Harvick had. They were in equal equipment in 2006 Xfinity. Tbh, Kyle should have been parked for at least a year or so after his cowardly actions at Texas in 2011 when he took out championship contender Ron Hornaday, Jr. It was already questioned whether the Cup guys should be "bucshwhacking". But this incident caused a lot more momentum to build with the question, "Should the Cup drivers being racing in the lower series? If so, should they be racing that late in the year that could alter the championship standings much like it did that year? Hornaday actually had a similar occurrence in 1995 when Geoff Bodine and him got together late in the truck race at Richmond (Sept.) causing him to lose several points. Although it took some time (per usual) NASCAR finally decided to put a limit on the Cup drivers in the lower series'. Kyle has more wins in Xfinity and Trucks than he does in Cup. That says a lot. 167. Ryan posted: 06.14.2020 - 1:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "163. But that's only an official data from people that paid for the channel that was broadcasting it. Well, Kyle Busch and others did have a green light before NASCAR said enough and invented those limits in 2017. I'm just saying that claim jumping isn't the NASCAR's phenomenon like many of you think. All you need to do is to look outside of your enormous country... 166. Kyle Busch and Ron Hornaday? It was a one time thing and it set Kyle off, Kyle wasn't racing for the Trucks championship in that series while Ron was, therefore there is a huge difference. Now if Jeff Gordon did that to Austin Dillon in 2013, which ruined his championship hopes and gave it to Sam Hornish, Jr instead, then that is similar to the Kyle Busch incident because that happened in Nationwide/Xfinity. Bottomline is, Jeff Gordon racing is Cup and Kyle Busch racing in Trucks is the biggest difference. Besides I can't wait till Kyle Busch reaches 100 Xfinity wins. I don't know any other discipline except NASCAR and cycling, where the top stars are allowed to race with less experienced athletes. But be careful - even cyclists below the UWT, Pro and 1.1/2.1 level are professionals, but in reality, they are semiprofessionals. And that's why the top teams can't participate on that level and every win you get there DOESN'T count as a professional win (it's like a K&N Pro Series level, which is regional and not national). It's not that those pros are allowed to beat a total amateur that can't even run 50 kph on a bicycle... Even drivers like Tanner Gray or Tyler Hill are pros. Just not that good to be able to compete with the best. On the other hand, I'm glad that at least someone is normal and UCI won't do the same thing as NASCAR, because apart from motorsport, everyone has a different schedule and when some elite cyclist wins most of the stages of some minor race, cycling fans DON'T complain that the top star robbed a poor less experienced cyclists that would deserve to get their first wins. Mainly because those stages aren't the same and it's not always all about the final sprint for the win. And because it doesn't happen every single race and there's sometimes a good parity. 177. There you go again (your usual ammo) trying to deflect something or change the subject when you start feeling backed in a corner because you know you're wrong. Nice try though. I didn't bring anything up, YOU brought up Jeff Gordon. I personally felt that Jeff Gordon should have been penalized much like Matt Kenseth was for his actions at Martinsville, but this topic is about whether CUP drivers should be allowed to race in trucks or Xfinity NOT about what Jeff Gordon did at Phoenix in CUP. These guys aren't learning how to race, plain and simple. The competition isn't even that close. I brought up the Busch and Hornaday incident because of how you had a Cup regular racing in a truck series playoff race and ruining Hornaday's championship chances by being a coward. This is the moment Mannoroth that NASCAR decided, "Hey, we have to do something about this. We can't have a Cup regular racing in a truck series playoff impacting the championship because of a cowardly act." Not only that but Busch pretty much used his truck as a weapon and did his best to try and cause bodily harm to Hornaday. This is a scar that Busch will never be able to overcome. Thus, they made the Kyle Busch limit rule. It would have been more relevant for you to bring up Jeff Gordon used to be a buschwacker sometimes, too, instead of bringing up something (Gordon taking out Bowyer at Phoenix) that wasn't relevant to the topic, which is par for the course. @175 Yeah for real, one cares about cycling on RR like Mannoroth does. I will admit I did follow Lance Armstrong some when he was "winning" the Tour de France, but that was minimal. I actually wish I hadn't now with what transpired. The fact that he beat cancer was awesome in itself, he didn't have to do what he did to win the races in my eyes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
