We start off in Thunder Valley, Bristol, Tennessee, for what is sure to be a banger of a race. Some series news: The name will return to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, after a 2-year stint with Gander RV & Outdoors as the series title sponsor 2. NewGuyOnTheBlock posted: 09.15.2020 - 7:35 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Honestly don't know if there is a legit favorite for the title this year. Probably gonna go with Crafton as he usually is in contention to take it all. 6. ThatGuy posted: 09.15.2020 - 7:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @5 the obvious pick would be Austin Hill since he won the regular season title and leads the series in top 5 finishes (8, along with Crafton) and leads in top 10s (14, three more than anybody else). However, 1 win is inferior to Enfinger & Creed's 3, and Zane's 2. We saw Crafton win the title without winning a race last year, but I expect this year to be different. I think it'll be expected/not surprising for Hill to get to Phoenix in the championship 4, but it's going to take a top 5 at the least, perhaps a win to be the champion. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Brett Moffitt. He won Phoenix in 2018 and is the only driver in the playoffs to have won there. Also, Hill didn't run well there last year. Crafton isn't a bad pick, he's run better this year than 2019 & 2018, and he runs well at Phoenix: 5th in 2013, 2nd in 2014, was battling for the lead in 2015 but spun and got hit so that race could've been easily a 2nd place, 3rd in 2016, ran 3rd in stage 1 and 2 in 2017 before getting involved in a wreck, and 6th last year. Again, I think Moffitt will be the most likely if he gets to the championship 4 7. JSPorts posted: 09.15.2020 - 8:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Most points: Austin Hill, 645 Most wins: Sheldon Creed & Grant Enfinger, 3 Most top 5s: Austin Hill & Matt Crafton, 8 Most top 10s: Austin Hill, 14 Most laps led: Austin Hill, 284 Best average finish: Austin Hill, 6.9 I'd be concerned about Hill's 1 win if he wasn't also the most consistent driver with the most laps led in the series. I think he'll be a strong contender. However, we know it's going to come down to Phoenix. Last time out at Phoenix, the ThorSport trucks led 52/150 laps, while Toyota-powered trucks led 82. The Chevrolets only led 16 laps (Creed.) The only 2 playoff drivers from 2020 who posted a driver rating over 100 that night were Ben Rhodes & Matt Crafton. It's really hard to pick a favorite here, but I think it will come from either Crafton, Creed, Enfinger or Hill. Out of those 4, my money's on Creed. He seems to be able to close races really well for the most part, and isn't afraid to use the bumper to win. Those two things, plus his performance as the best Chevy in last year's Phoenix race, make him my favorite. 8. JSPorts posted: 09.16.2020 - 9:55 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The 51 is in the owner's playoffs, while the 38 is not. That's why they're grouped up there together. I imagine the 10 playoff drivers & the 51 will all be grouped in the top 11 each week. 12. DI9_ForLife posted: 09.16.2020 - 10:30 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I would say right now that the favorites are Austin Hill and Grant Enfinger, Creed has broke out and become a pretty good contender, other than that nearly everyone has at least a sliver of a chance as besides those three drivers, there really hasn't been a dominant force this year... My way too early prediction says that Hill wins the championship 13.
