Kyle Busch could add Martinsville and Darlington to the list of tracks, where he has won in all 3 series. But at least he can add Richmond, so that's mainly why he's running this race. 12. RandomFacts posted: 04.15.2021 - 10:33 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) @11 No one else cares except you Perhapes Kyle should be focusing on his struggling cup career instead of going for pointless truck victories. 13. Mannoroth posted: 04.15.2021 - 12:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) 12. Every elite Cup driver has a right to struggle, so I don't know what you still expect from him... Even if he didn't win a single race in the future, 57 Cup wins and two titles is still a really impressive achievement despite all those lower series starts and wins. Bill Elliott or Rusty Wallace didn't race in lower series almost at all and their Cup careers aren't on the same level as Kyle's. 14. Mile501 posted: 04.15.2021 - 1:05 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @13 - Bill Elliott's and especially Rusty Wallace's Cup stats are actually rather similar to Kyle Busch's, so I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make there. 15. Anonymous posted: 04.15.2021 - 1:16 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @13 Oh please. Bill and Rusty had far better competition when they won their titles and didn't have to have a gimmicky format to do it. 16. ThatGuy posted: 04.15.2021 - 2:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) @15 that's just not true. With the rules of today's nascar, the level of talent doesn't really mean much. Also, Kyle didn't need to have a gimmicky format either. Look at the season long standings, Kyle Busch was the leader for 2018 & 2019 17. Mannoroth posted: 04.15.2021 - 2:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) 14. Bill Elliott - 44 Cup wins, one title. Rusty Wallace - 55 Cup wins, one title. Kyle Busch - 57 Cup wins, two titles, win on every racetrack he started at (valid for half a season in 2018 before Charlotte Roval made its debut). It can be said it's rather similar than very different, but he's better at every major category and actually did win everywhere. That's a big difference maker for me. 15. Better competition? Seriously? When you could get from 2 laps down under green and win by lapping the entire field, you really don't have a better competition... Sorry, but you're a fool, if you think your statement is true. Besides, Kyle Busch did score the most points without any gimmicks twice. 18. Corey posted: 04.15.2021 - 2:43 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @17 Answer, Bill Elliott is a 2-time Daytona 500 champion, plus won the Winston Million in 1985. He Holds the record for fastest qualifying lap ever and is a 14- time most popular driver award winner. What are things Kyle Busch will never accomplish in his career. 19. One of the few you can say that, and the only one on the schedule you can say that about. @12 and maybe he shouldn't. Without practice, the extra seat time can be very beneficial, looking at Kyle's 2018 & 2019 seasons (since 2020 was kind of all over the place) he got most of his wins early in the season. Not necessarily getting 2 or 3 wins in one weekend, but he won races 7, 8, 9 and 13 in 2018 and races 4, 5, 8 and 14 in 2019, all around the time he was making his limited truck & xfinity starts 21. And when you look deeper, you will see a lot of similarities. 22. rm posted: 04.15.2021 - 6:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The #17 team with the younger of the Gray brothers was one of the first to submit their crew roster for this race, which I assume coincides with the submission of the entry blank for the race as well. But, while it's fun to play god here, if the team wasn't on the first release of the entry list put out by NASCAR, that's pretty much the ultimate authority on that front. With the extent of Taylor's injuries, it seems likely that his debut in the Truck series will have to wait until the fall or even next year ultimately. 23. Mannoroth posted: 04.16.2021 - 7:11 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) 18. Remember that Bill Elliott got his 2 Daytona 500 wins without any restrictor plates that forces you to race in packs. No one can break his record with the current package that has restricted the maximum speed and The Most Popular Driver award is the worst award that can exist, because performance doesn't have anything to do with it. Just find milions of people that sends you the vote and you easily win like Narain Karthikeyan from India. 21. But number of pole positions or running at finishes is not on the same level as number of wins and titles. Those two things are the most important. 24. RandomFacts posted: 04.16.2021 - 7:12 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) @13 Guess who else hardly ever raced in the lower series while Cup stars, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, they both focused completely on Cup. And their win and championship numbers speak for themselves, so whatever point you tried to make pretty much fails there. 25. Corey posted: 04.16.2021 - 10:41 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) @23 So he won during a time when a good car and a good driver meant something, not the random pack racing we have today. Elliott benefited with timing in that he could earn the record, much like Busch has benefited from a stable schedule for most of his career. And you don't earn the same reward 14 times in a row without being like able. Go ahead and downplay the achievements of other drivers, we can do the same with Kyle Busch. 26. Mannoroth posted: 04.16.2021 - 11:57 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) 24. Heh, it would be a miracle, if some driver managed to have 80+ Cup wins and at least 4+ titles as well as an excellent lower series career. You can't be absolutely untouchable at everything, but you can get close to it and that's exactly how Kyle Busch's NASCAR career looks like. 25. Exactly. 27. Anonymous posted: 04.16.2021 - 1:33 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Dude, most of those lower series wins came against drivers with significantly less wins so they mean absolutely nothing. But during that season, Kyle Busch failed to win, rarely led laps, and got beaten by 7 drivers in the final standings including David Stremme and Mike Garvey. So is that an example of how he performs when he doesn't have the top equipment? (Even that team was affiliated with Roush, though, so I'm not really sure what the equipment was like.) 30. Busch running just a tad better lap times than JHN, though not by a noticable margin. Slow Truck 18TG lets JHN gain 3/10 on Smith. Stage 1 was good, stage 2 was very boring, and stage 3 was pretty fun to watch, especially the finish. Stage 3 made Richmond look like a short track again 109. rm posted: 04.17.2021 - 4:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Can we talk about how on one of the last restarts, Johnny Sauter radioed to his crew that he thought Chandler Smith would divebomb to the inside of himself and teammate Matt Crafton on the front row, something the 88 team shrugged off as Sauter worrying too much, only for Smith to do exactly what Sauter predicted and steal the lead? No wonder Sauter was able to stick around to get a top five while Crafton dropped the anchor and fell all the way back to 18th 110. Crafton just couldn't get that truck to stick to the bottom for anything at the end there, Smith or not. Sauter was able to run well high & low even at the end there, recovering from Crafton sliding up into his momentum. 111. I do have a bone to pick with someone. Austin Hill. He drove like a man literally possessed by a demon. He kept divebombing it into caused a few drivers to go high and get in wrecks, but something I don't know if they showed on the broadcast, but he was consistently sending it 4 and 5 wide on restarts, causing others to slide up and crash, and with a few laps left he started divebombing and punting him for 10th. I watched him damn near re-create Kenseth taking out Logano at Martinsville almost flawlessly. Dude seriously pissed me off today. Still, great to finally see a favorite driver of mine in JHN win 114. Noah Gragson twice, and one each from Todd Gilliland, and Raphael Lessard. In the previous 20, They got 14 out of 20. 1 from Erik Jones, 6 from Christopher Bell and 7 from William Byron. So either, something changed in Toyota's scouting department or KBM has fallen of to the point that only experienced veterans can be relied upon to score wins. 117. If so, why Kyle and Harvick have nearly the same numbers in each category since 2015 while both running in elite equipment. Shouldn't Harvick be in the league of his own, when he's better than Kyle? They're equal, plain & simple. So a 2nd place finish. Nevermind, maybe next time. 120.
