Actually let me correct myself, Bobby Unser had #4 according to a photo
on IROC's now dead website (I used the internet archieve to look it up)

Actually I believe Bobby Unser did drive the #12 car as was previously
stated.
In this photo if you look to the hood of the car, you can see two
numbers instead of just one if the number had been 4.

Actually Bobby did drive the #12 car in this race. In this photo of
Bobby with the car that day, on the hood you can see the #12. The photo
of Bobby in the #4 on the IROC website is from 1976.

The black #7 Chevrolet Camaro won the first three races this season and
was thought by some to have an advantage. Notably IROC didn't put anyone
behind the wheel of that car for this one.

Ronnie Peterson's wreck saw him coming into the pits afterward with the
windshield on his #2 Camaro smashed and collapsing after likely getting
hit with debris. Needless to say, he was done for the day.
