James Hunt was scheduled to race in the two events at Riverside but
withdrew because he was chasing the championship in Formula 1. The
Riverside races were scheduled one week ahead of the season finale F1
Japanese GP where Hunt entered the race 3 points behind Niki Lauda. As
shown in the movie Rush, Hunt dramatically won the championship.

Pole speed: 99.959 MPH

Per Ultimate Racing History, the pole time for this race was 91.478
seconds.
