Al Unser had a hard impact into the dirt bank surrounding Lake Lloyd, he
actually went over the bank but didn't end up in the water.

Unser was knocked unconsious. He hit the mound before lake Lloyd hard
and went over it then, onto a sand area, right before it!

The margin of victory was a lot closer than 1 cl. It was about 1 foot.

The 1977 Belgian Grand Prix winner Gunnar Nilsson was to compete in this
race, but was in the hospital with testicular cancer. Unfortunately, he
would never race again and passed away in October of 1978.

Despite what Paul Page claims on the video, Al Unser was not k.o.'d in
his incident. He scrambled from the car almost immediately after it
stopped and walked away.

The incident also involved Johnny Rutherford and Richard Petty. It was
Richard Petty who was knocked out after contact with Rutherford.

Benny Parsons filled in for the ill Gunnar Nilsson. What a shame that
Nilsson was taken away so young. He was only a month away from his 30th
birthday.

Jim McKay and Sir Jackie Stewart were the commentators. Chris Economaki
was the sole pit road reporter.
