A.J. Foyt quit the IROC series before this race citing issues with the
mechanical preperation of the cars (must not have thought they were equal)

This was a four wide photo finish.
"Bobby Allison tried to slingshot around Bonnett on the last lap on the
low side of the track, while Yarborough tried the high side. Somehow
Andretti smoked past both of them and took second place at the line by a
couple of feet.
Allison nipped Yarborough by inches. Less than a car length separated
the four cars, running side by side on a track only three and a half
lanes wide at that point."
