On the first lap, Neil Bonnett clipped the left rear of Derek Bell's
car, sending him hard in the wall entering the tri-oval. Bonnett went
for a mid-air ride too in the grass. Needless to say, Bell was very
angry at Bonnett when interviewed by Ned Jarrett.

Seeing this results, I assume both drivers took a back up ride to
complete the race.

Years later, during the broadcast of the 1993 All Pro 300 Neil Bonnett
mentioned how he lost a windshield during this race and described how it
felt like the force of the air was going to jerk his helmet off. Seen here:
