Roberto Guerrero was supposed to be in this race but broke his foot in a
practice crash. This just 5 months after nearly dying in a crash testing
his Indy Car at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

This was the first of just two IROC wins for Bill Elliott, both of
Awesome Bill from Dawsonville's wins would come here at Daytona.

Guerrero's comeback was the big story coming into this one but alas it
was not to be. He instead made his IROC debut in the next race at
Riverside.
