The Mopars replaced the old iconic Chevrolet Camaros the series used throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the Daytonas only lasted until 1993 before being discontinued and replaced by the Dodge Avenger. The new cars were not ready in time to do the series' traditional opener at Daytona during Speedweeks. 7. Interestingly while the Intimidator is synonymous with Chevrolets he never won an IROC race during the years where the tour raced the famous IROC-Z Chevy Camaros, his win coming here as the series debuted its new Dodge race cars. 8. He ultimately stayed in road racing but he dabbled in NASCAR Winston Cup and ARCA for a few seasons after this. 9. The race was aired Sunday, May 27, following live coverage of the Indianapolis 500 with a tape delayed coverage of the Monaco Grand Prix following it as part of a racing triple-header. 10.
