Um.... Arie Luyendyk was representing the IRL? 3 years before it's
creation? Maybe change that to say CART?

Allison, Earnhardt, Rudd, and Jones were FOUR WIDE at the finish.

This was one of the best finishes in HISTORY! The lead changed about 5
times on the last lap. Alison made a four wide pass in turn 4 to win by
a fender over
Earnhardt.

The finish is what racing is all about... The finish at Daytona in 1992
was awesome, too.

Something like 5 or 6 different drivers led at one time or another on
the last lap.

Allison made a spectacular, 4-abreast inside move in turn 4 to go from
4th to 1st and snag the win.

Absolutely one of the best finishes in all of motorsports....ever.

Arie Luyendyk took a shot in this one when he got together with Hurley
Haywood on the backstretch. Luyendyk's Dodge Daytona hit the wall head
on with enough force most of the bodywork including the hood and the
right front wheel to come off. Haywood had just bumped the wall before
he and the Flying Dutchman collided.

Arie had the orange color for this IROC race, ironically he also had the
orange car when he crashed hard in the Indianapolis IROC race in 1998.

Pete Halsmer was out for this race due to a road racing crash at Road
Atlanta.

Watching the finish of this never gets old. Earnhardt, Wallace, Gant,
Davy Jones, and Allison all led on the last lap. Allison made a daring
4-wide pass on the inside at his home track in turns 3 and 4. And then
Allison had to hold off Earnhardt at the line.

It's a shame that the series is now defunct.

Paul Page, Sam Posey and Bobby Unser were the commentators. Jack Arute
was the sole pit road reporter.
