I remember how disappointed I was when Earnhardt went out early in the race. 2. Trans-Am racer Tommy Kendall scores his best IROC finish in 2nd Hurley Haywood makes his final IROC start, it was also Ken Schraders last as a regular but he returned for a one-off fill-in run in 2002. Ricky Rudd would have to wait until 2001 to be invited back (although he did a one-race fill in during 1996). 4. The Mopars were put out to pasture for 1996 and beyond as the series made the switch to Pontiac Firebirds, the Pontiacs would hang around until the series ceased to be following the 2006 season. 5. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 03.08.2019 - 1:13 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Green flag: Lap 1 Caution 1: Lap 2 (caution laps do not count in IROC): #3 spun turn 2 Green flag: Lap 2-50 6. Dodge first joined the series with the Daytona as its racer in 1990 and ran them through 1993 before switching to the then-new Avenger model for its last two seasons. Dodge departed IROC in favor of Pontiac for 1996 but at the same time it did step up its racing involvement in other areas, after a few Dodge Ram pickups competed in 1995 during the inaugural season of NASCAR's new Truck series the company stepped up that effort with factory support for 1996 and beyond while also starting a factory race team in the new North American Touring Car Championship series. This wasn't the last stock car race for the Avenger either. While no one in NASCAR was running them in this era, Mopar wouldn't return there until 2001, there were legal in several other series with a few of them even running in ARCA. They were more common in lower ranks though including CASCAR, ACT, and late models. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
