Jeff Gordon's only ever IROC win. I guess he didn't care for the IROC
series that much. Maybe he isn't the all-time best driver out of active
drivers after all, because of how he lacked winning IROC races.

he actually wasn't leading when the race ended, he got passed (can't
remember who) but they reverted back to the last completed lap and he
won, that rule was as bad as the GWC rule and not racing back...

I had the numbers wrong, Al Unser Jr did start last but it was because
he didn't practice. He drew and raced the number 8.

Then-defending CART champion Alex Zanardi was invited to run IROC again
in 1998 but after his struggles in the series in 1997 he turned down his
invitation.

Jeff Burton was the driver who had just taken the lead from Jeff Gordon
when the rain came down and ended the race. Scoring reverted to the
previous lap and Gordon got the win; Burton had to wait until later in
the year at MIS to get his first IROC victory.

Paul Page and Benny Parsons were the commentators. Jack Arute was the
sole pit road reporter.
