I imagine it was to sub for someone, but it couldn't have been Earnhardt, as they "retired" his car for the remainder of the season (odd, seeing as how they allowed substitute drivers to run races for Davey Allison and Alan Kulwicki in 1993). 3. It seems like their play-by-play announcer changes every year, though. Paul Page used to be the voice of the IndyCar Series; now he voices NHRA events on ESPN. Then Todd Harris did it, and this past year, Scott Goodyear was joined by Marty Reid and Rusty Wallace. Who knows in 2007. 7.
