I don't have an official stat of whether or not this is the first IROC race with a fence climber. Sam Hornish, Jr. had a pretty good piece, but on the restart after the mid-race break his transmission broke and he was spun out. For the second race in-a-row Steve Kinser had to test the safety of the IROC cars as he flipped down the backstretch (this time landing on all four wheels). Max Angelelli was impressive in his first IROC start, making some daring move, a great save when he was sideways off turn 2 and bringing it home sixth. He is sharing a ride with his Rolex Grand-Am teammate Wayne Taylor. This is also believed to be the first year that drivers are sharing an IROC invitation. 3.
