I can't believe there are no comments on it so far. I mean, it wasn't that good of a race, but still. 2. Thomas posted: 07.13.2006 - 10:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) You too, Michael! Ha! 3. Part One: Starting on the back row of the IROC grid, he nearly led the 3rd lap of the race, but after "Mad" Max Papis led the first three laps, Stewart never looked back, and even built up a lead of over 10 seconds before the competition caution. Part Two: For Saturday night's Pepsi 400, Stewart started on the outside pole and led the opening laps. He had the dominant car and ran in the Top 5 most of the night, except during green flag pit stops. Before a late restart, he was able to determine that the leader Boris Said was nervous, just by watching the way Boris was weaving his car to clean the tires! Stewart passed him on the outside with a few laps to go to win the race. Two wins on two totally different race courses at the same facility on the same weekend. 5. biffle16 posted: 01.12.2007 - 2:51 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I was there. It was a pretty good race. 6. This event forms a nice bookend, the only other Daytona road course IROC race was the first IROC race ever at Daytona in 1974. Ted Musgrave gains the "honor" of being the last driver to ever drop out of an IROC race. 11. RaceFanX posted: 02.01.2011 - 3:26 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Since this race was run on the Daytona road course at night the IROC stock cars were equipped with working headlights for this event, an extremely rare occurance for stock cars. The lights were not in the standard position for a Pontiac Firebird, they were lower to the ground on either side of the nose. This race saw an unusual crash. On a restart from a caution on lap 11 the field came off the oval and into the road course section when Scott Sharp was forced off the track by Max Angelelli. Sharp recovered but was promptly spun by Sam Hornish Jr. Sharp's car spun backward down the track at the same time that the field sped down to the infield course's first right hand turn and as the field rounded the turn Sharp's out of control car inadvertedly ended up crashing backward into Hornish's car. It was one of the most bizarre forms of racing karma you will ever see. 13.
