(Jim Crowe sounds like a pretty unfortunate name if you ask me...) 4. RaceFanX posted: 08.13.2012 - 3:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I finally found some... Missing Driver: Jim Crowe was an American racer from Lake Park, Florida (running here and in the 1975 race #2). At one point he raced at Palm Beach Speedway in a Chevelle sponsored by a local Chevy dealer. 5. Based on estimates from Ultimate Racing History, racing-reference's driver pages and the size of the second 125 (32 cars compared to an original 27 here). The following changes should be made... The Top-18 were correct and from there... Pee Wee Wentz was 19th, 49 laps competed in the #4 Wentz Racing Chevrolet '73 Chevrolet owned by Jerry Wentz and was running at the finish. He won $325 in the process and led no laps. #49 G.C. Spencer was 20th, no change besides position. 21st was Coo Coo Marlin was started 12th in his #14 Cunningham-Kelley '73 Chevrolet owned by H.B. Cunningham. He completed 49 laps, was running at the finish and led no laps. 22nd was Dean Dalton in his self-owned #7 Belden Asphalt '74 Chevrolet. He completed 49 laps, was running at the finish and led no laps. #8 Ed Negre amd #02 L.D. Ottinger were 23rd and 24th, no change. 25th was Elmo Langley in his self-owned #64 Langley Racing '73 Ford. He started 23rd, completed 39 laps, led none of them and was running at the finish. His statys at the end of the race is unknown. David Pearson, Grant Adcox, Dick Skillen, Buddy Arrington, Jimmy Crowe and Jimmy Crawford all were in the same order but were 26th through 31st. Wentz and Dalton's starting positions are unknown. #4 Pee Wee Wentz, #7 Dean Dalton and #64 Elmo Langley should be added to the 1974 Daytona 500s DNQs. One assumes Marlin made the field on time. 7. That's because 31 cars are listed as having run this race, and the only starting positions not accounted for are 29th and 30th, and since there were two drivers and two unlisted starting positions, that has to be where those two drivers started from. Now which one of those two drivers started in those respective starting positions is something I don't know. 9. cjs3872 posted: 01.17.2013 - 5:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Also, only 45 laps were run due to the energy crisis, just as only 180 laps were run in the Daytona 500 were run due to the energy crisis. I have a book I've created through getting the results from various sources, mostly from ths site, but I did not count the extra laps everyone was given credit for. 10. ii posted: 06.26.2014 - 8:04 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) David Pearson and Grant Adcox should be bumped up to 28th and 29th, respectively, with Skillen and Arrington moving down to 30th and 31st. 11. (Pearson, Allison, B., Allison, D., Panch and Follmer) Also notes that Bobby Isaac led the final 16 laps. https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=gkAsAAAAIBAJ&sjid=UM0EAAAAIBAJ&pg=3377%2C2393841 12. (same for the 1974 Daytona 500 following this race) Mihalic was a native of Pittsburgh and did the Steel City proud in this one as he raced his way into the field to assure to make his proper Cup debut in the Daytona 500. Ultimately he'd crash out of the main event early on though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
