Cale Yarborough claims the first of his five Twin 125 victories during
the race's non-points era.

Jim Vandiver matches his best-ever NASCAR Cup finish in second while
Hershel McGriff takes a podium with a part-time Petty Enterprises entry.

Canadian Jim Bray doesn't make the race but Jim Hurtubise does.
Hurtubise drove Bray's car in the 500.

Race shortened by 10% to 45 laps due to fuel crisis in 1974. Scoring
started with lap 6. 112.50 miles as total distance.

Yarborough led the final 16 laps.

Rogers turned in a great sixth-place run to give him a starting spot
near the front for the 500. This was Rogers' best ever finish in a Cup
car, his top performance in a points race was a seventh at Darlington in
the Southern 500 later in the season.
