He'd go on to race another day. 2. The 3rd driver whose time was disallowed, AJ Foyt, blew an engine early in this race and started 31st in the Daytona 500. 4. Ferrel Harris races his #82 into the field but rookie Skip Manning doesn't in Billy Hagan's #92. Harris put Manning in his #82 for the 500 afterward...and well Manning crashed out. 5. The race went green flag all the way after that and when the rest of the field came in for their green flag pit stops, DW stretched the gas and won by almost half a lap. It wouldn't be the last time he won a Daytona race because of pit strategy. 6. Unfortunately a blown engine would lead to a DNF when he ran in the 500 itself. 11. RaceFanX posted: 04.10.2020 - 9:09 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Cale Yarborough turned in a top-10 run here to give himself a starting spot near the front for the 500...but it wouldn't do him any good as the Holly Farms #11 Chevy blew a motor on lap two in the main event and he'd finish last. Correcting myself, Hobbs crashed in the 500. He didn't blow a motor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
