Owner D.K. Ulrich drove the car instead in the 500. Connie Saylor's #49 may have been sponsored by Lady & Son Auction but I couldn't find proof. G.C. Spencer's team switched to running a #6 Oldsmobile from a #49 Dodge and entered the old Magnum with Saylor at the wheel in a team effort with their new #6 and their other driver sportscar racer Claude Ballot-Lena. Neither one of Spencer's entries made the field. Buddy Baker's dominance of this race and the first Busch Clash made him the heavy favorite for the Daytona 500. It wouldn't exactly pan out for him... 4. While, as mentioned, Bobby stepped aside for the 500 after a rough week he would come back to race in Cup again at Charlotte later in the season. This was the end of Woody's NASCAR career as he turned his attention toward the Indianapolis 500...where he would also DNQ later in the year. 5. I found a picture of Herk's car on Getty Images and this is the best I could do for making out the sponsor) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
