However, Greg Fielden's book shows Roy Smith in that car, and I haven't found an official NASCAR report for this race. 5. His dad's surplus Dodge Magnum ended up crushed when Petty was collected in the big one that started when Gary Baker spun off turn 4. Roger Hamby and Bill Dennis race in only to have different drivers in their rides for the 500. Hamby handed his #17 over to Don Whittington, who DNQed in the #55, while owner Henley Gray replaced Dennis with J.D. McDuffie, who DNQed in the second 125, to drive his #19. 6. Most notably, Kyle Petty was involved and his car was too heavily damaged to be repaired and make the 500. As a result of the accident, Baker, Petty, Buck Simmons, John Utsman, Phil Finney, Jocko Maggiacomo, Don Whittington, and Baxter Price all failed to make the 500. 7. Error or did the Donlavey team run a different car? 11. If I can dig that article back-up, I'll share it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
