In the movie "Stroker Ace", where Aubrey James, Stroker Ace, and Harry Gant are going three-wide, and James plows into Gant's car, sending him crashing, they show Gant sliding into the grass, and then cut to Anderson's wreck. In the ESPN movie "3", the wreck is seen for about one or two seconds, in an Earnhardt dream sequence, and the wreck is the last wreck(very briefly) they show before Earnhardt(played by Barry Pepper) is scared awake in the Osterlund racing team van. 2. Anderson lost his wristwatch in the crash. Saylor slid about 1/4 the backstretch on his lid, his roof giving off a long trail of sparks, after his roll. They actually dragged it off the track surface upside down with a tow truck before rolling it back over. 6. A couple of videos on YouTube show it, and you can see it pretty clearly. Shame that he wrecked, because that car had a great paint scheme. 10. Car owner John Rebhan fired Anderson after the crash and replaced him with Donnie Allison for a few races later in the season but the team would still end up shutting down before summer. 12. The Harry Ranier team famously built a slick little Pontiac LeMans for Bobby Allison and he used the #28 Tuf-Lon entry to win this race before almost backing it up with another win in the 500. Steve Moore and his family team also took a gamble as they built a Chevrolet Malibu for Speedweeks although his 17th-place finish here was just short of what he needed to put the #73 Kings Inn racer in the Great American Race. Most Chevrolet teams in 1981 ran the Monte Carlo but Dave Marcis would take a Malibu to victory lane in 1982. 13. He'd have a much better time come Sunday. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
