The drivers who chose to do this would have to start at the rear in their respective qualifiers (In the order of their 2nd round times. The tradeoff being a better qualifying speed to stand on. RaceFanX posted: 10.06.2019 - 9:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor: #41 Sterling Marlin - 1982 World's Fair Knoxville (same for his 1982 Daytona 500 DNQ in the #41) Marlin, attempting to make his second Daytona 500 start and his first in a car he qualified himself, and the Matthews Racing team landed a unique sponsorship on the side of their yellow-and-orange Oldsmobile from the then upcoming 1982 World's Fair that would be held in Knoxville, Tennessee. A crash early in this race doomed their chances of making the field. The car promoted that the fair would run from May to October.
