Overall adding all the flips up he is probably at around 40 complete flips all together. 4. biffle16 posted: 02.26.2007 - 11:17 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) He later said he had a face full of mud that nearly choked him. 5. This would also be the last D500 that more than one Mopar (R. Baldwin-Dodge, B. Arrington-Chrysler) qualified for. 6. jp posted: 02.19.2009 - 6:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) i have a theory about his face full of mud that almost choked him: i just got done watching part of the youtube video of the wreck, and how he got the face full of mud was mud coming in through the windshield area, since the windshield blew out when he was first spinning. 7. He, like Ronnie Sanders' #81 in Race 1, failed to start the race. The broadcast shows the Billy Hagen crew pushing Labonte's car behind the wall while Ken Squier is narrating the starting grid. Unlike Sanders, Labonte was locked into the 500 field - 41st - and despite his misfortune, he finished a very strong 6th. 9. It qualified for the 500 but Jim Sauter drove it there as opposed to "Jim Stacy" here. I just find it hard to believe a driver with no Cup experience would finish 10th in a 125, make the race and be replaced. 10. He held lead until passed by Bonnett in turn 3 of last lap. Spartanburg Herald-Journal, 2-18-83, Page B1 https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=7lEsAAAAIBAJ&sjid=Vc4EAAAAIBAJ&pg=6431%2C3492244 17. In 1983 few teams had backup cars so when Yarborough wiped out the Monte Carlo his team quickly went and retrieved, with a pickup truck and a trailer no less, the LeMans that had been on display outside a Hardee's restaurant in the Daytona area. The Ranier team worked through the night to have that car ready for this race and finished their preparations just hours before the green flag dropped. Cale then went out and finished third with it here before taking it to victory lane in the 500 come Sunday. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
