I think that Ferdin Wallace's car was owned by James Hylton. I have a
photo of his car and it looks like one of the blue and yellow #49
Cleaner Hands Formula cars that Trevor Boys drove the year before.

H.L. Waters & James Hylton could have gone into business together in the
'85 offseason.

Doubtful, as H.L Water only ran the #0 that Delma Cowart almost always
owned with some help from local reatraunt chain owner, Carey Hilliards &
Heyward Grooms Construction.

Found an article (Pittsburgh Post Gazette)about a Ferdin Wallace Jr.
being the promoter of Clearfield Speedway (11 Sept 1987). There was/is
also a Wallace auto sales business in Clearfield run/owned by Ferdin
Wallace.
Just dug out my copy of the 1986 D500 progam and on checking the Twin
Line Up sheets I see that in fact the car/team section has Clearfield
Speedway Chevy for this entry with hometown as Clearfield, PA.
The "Probable Entry List" in the program has no entry for the #49, but
there is a Hylton TBA entry for #48, so it is possible that it was
actually a Hylton car

Cale Yarborough and Bobby Hillin both started from the rear in back-up
cars. Hillin's engine blew in practice after qualifying, Yarborough lost
it on the oil and bounced off the wall into Hillin, toalling both cars.

Tim Richmond's first race in Rick Hendrick's new Folgers #25 Chevrolet
was one to forget. He crashed out, wiping out the team's primary car and
forcing him to play hurt on Sunday in the 500.
