He supposed said something to extent of "Maybe I shouldn't have done that, now I've got to focus on racing." Still good run for the green and white #0 Ford. 4. stricklinfan82 posted: 12.26.2007 - 4:14 am Rate this comment: (1) (3) A wild crashfest allows several underdogs who had posted very slow qualifying times to make the Daytona 500 - Kerry Teague, Dave Marcis, Phil Barkdoll, Delma Cowart, and Mike Potter. It was certainly the wrong year to end up in race 2, just ask drivers like Jimmy Spencer and Lake Speed who ended up missing the 500 in favor of some lesser deserving cars. 5. "When Delma Cowart qualified 27th, he went out and hired a team physician. 'I figured we needed one for all the physical needs of our fine crew.' he said. Someone asked what kind of a doctor he hired. 'He's a veterinarian. All we got on our crew are dogs. But, hey, we're having a great time.'" 8. Josh posted: 02.21.2017 - 12:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Since Sterling Marlin crashed out, only the top 14 finishers advanced to the 500, coincidentally all the lead lap cars. Brad Teague in the 99 and Andy Belmont in the 59 each finished a lap behind and were the first two out. 11. 42KylePetty42 posted: 02.21.2017 - 1:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Brad Teague hadn't made a Daytona 500 since 1988. You know him riding around one transfer spot out those last few laps, knowing he was a lap down nothing he could do was watching, dying for one those top 14 cars to drop out so he could get in 12. He "borrowed" Eddie Bierschwale's #23 SplitFire Spark Plugs Olds which DNQ'ed. 14. Too bad it got crashed in this race. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
