Boys didn't attempt any more Cup races in 1994 but returned more than a decade later to attempt three more races in 2009 although he did not qualify for any of them. 10. 28DaveyAllison28 posted: 08.03.2015 - 3:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) And it sure was a short one for Buddy Baker. This race only lasted a few seconds for Mr. Baker. Was over anxious on the start, causing one a hell of a wreck before the field even got to turn 1! Baker had one the faster cars at Atlanta 3 weeks later but went for the pole durning qualifying, crashed and didn't even get to race 11. James W. Thought I'd see ole Buddy being too anxious in his comeback attempt and causing the big one just like 3 or 4 posters in this thread said. Did you guys even watch this race? The entire incident was caused because when the green flag dropped Dale Jarrett's car suffered a mechanical issue and didn't get up to speed bunching up the field behind him and causing chaos. Cars were jockeying every which way and yes, Buddy's car made contact with Mayfield's car, but that wasn't anyones fault. It was unavoidable when a car in the middle of the pack quits picking up speed as it starts to go through 3rd gear at Daytona after the green flag drops. 14. Marlin would bounce back to win his first Cup race in the 500 while Earnhardt's Daytona luck saw him settle for seventh in the big race. 15.
