Interesting that Paul Menard and Chad Chaffin cut a right front tire in the same spot on the track. Chaffin attempted all three races, but was not driving a car or truck that was in the Top 30 or 35, and failed to qualify for all 3 races. Maybe if Sterling Marlin's sponsor (Waste Management) had picked up the debris before the field came around, he wouldn't have run into Dale Jarrett (just kidding). 2. As noted above Sterling Marlin crashed into the back of Dale Jarrett's car under caution due to the field suddenly slowing in the tri-oval to miss some large pieces of debris from Chaffin's wreck including the right front fender off the #92 Chevy. The NBC crew said later Marlin may have looked down to switch off a fan or somethingin the car and that brief lapse with the sudden change triggered the bizarre wreck. Marlin, his crew chief and car owner were all called to the NASCAR truck after this race for the incident. Chaffin actually was in contention to make the race before his wreck. 9.
