He was in a transfer spot when Villeneuve, who was in the first transfer spot, lost control and slammed into Barrett. I was pulling for Kasey to win and Carpentier and either Barrett or Schrader to make it in. 2. Man just could not drive a stock car if his life depended on it. Caused a huge crash. Bill Davis finally figured out this guy couldn't drive and they parted ways after this race. 7. The World Champion's full-time NASCAR bid ended before it really began due to sponsorship woes, they were unsponsored coming in and missing the 500 put an end to his attempt to join the series full-time. 8. A wheelman he was indeed. R.I.P. John. We love you. 10. Watching, it was apparent at the beginning that the battle was going to be between Barrett, Carpentier, Villeneuve and Schrader. DJ was close but didn't really have the ability to get to those 4. Andretti and McClure were longshots at best. Then Villeneuve crashed taking Barrett out with him. Then the two favorites became Schrader and Carpentier, with DJ getting up there with Mikey's help. Then the 10 crashed giving Andretti the miracle on wheels hail mary shot to make the 500. 12. Matt Yocum, Steve Byrnes, Krista Voda and Dr. Dick Berggren were the pit road reporters. Chris Myers and Jeff Hammond were in the Hollywood hotel. 13. Thus, she was at the speed infield desk along with Jeff Hammond. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
