I think there could be tire problems in the 500 after what happened during this race. 3. The Real Thomas posted: 02.12.2009 - 8:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) One word - lame. But congrats to Allmendinger and Mayfield for getting in the 500. I was pulling for them. 4. Montoya missed his pit, then angled in his pit wrong, yet finished fourth. The transfer spots changed a bunch in the middle of the race. Great run for Mayfield with a team made up of laid off crew members from other teams 6. But if its a snoozer I think this could possibly be Mark Martin's year, he looked very strong in this race and I think barring any bad luck it might be his year 7. I personally lost a lot of respect for Mark when he said two or three times he was retiring. All his fans went out and made sure to get the merchandise. Marks sponsors at Roush even changed their schemes commemorating Marks career only for him to go back on his word. Same with Terry Labonte. Look at the GARBAGE T-Lab is in. Bill Elliott on the other hand said he was semi-retiring. 8. Kit posted: 02.13.2009 - 4:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The drivers need to realize that they love driving too much to retire. Elliott handled it perfectly and it's too bad the #21 isn't more competitive for him. 9. samfan09 posted: 02.14.2009 - 1:43 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Elliott and Rusty Wallace handled it perfectly and stuck to their word. Although to be fair to Mark, the first time he announced he was retiring, Roush practically begged him to come back. After that, it was all Mark's decision, but I viewed the first time as him being loyal to the owner that gave him a ride for all those years. Either way, I hope this is the year Mark can finally get his 500 AND his championship. 10. If it wasn't for that, he would probably be a part-timer on the short tracks. Martin has been the catalyst for too many guys losing their rides so I'm not really rooting for him at all. 11. josh posted: 02.15.2009 - 7:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) On the last lap, Mark Martin went to pass Kyle Busch on the high side & Kyle forced him up so high I thought Mark was going to smack the wall. I'm impressed with the #96 team, I think Bobby Labonte will be better than any of Hall of Fame's racers. (I was in school in last period when I left the class & I ran through the Halls & I ran home to watch the duels & I turned on the tv & they were doing the pace laps for the 1st duel. I was freaking tired when I got home, but it was fun.) 12. jp posted: 03.26.2009 - 7:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) Under my 22/21 method, with the Transfers 10th and 20th, Allmendiger and Kelly Bires would be in. The Transfers in qualifyer one would be Jamie Mac and Kirk Shelmerdine. Under my way, Jeff Gaydon and Baby Busch would be in row one. And yes, I know I typed the names wrong. stricklinfan82's deal SUCKS!!! 13. 18fan posted: 05.26.2009 - 2:07 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) What is the 22/21 method with 10th and 20th as transfer spots. jp, stricklinfan82 does it the way it actually is, which is not good. 14. jp posted: 07.30.2009 - 10:59 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The 22/21 works like this: In qualifyer 1, the top 22 at the end advances, as well as number 2, only with 21. And i've got another qualifying method which is kinda similar to the old rule, in which they advance the top 14. 15. Matthew Lewis posted: 08.21.2009 - 7:55 am Rate this comment: (0) (2) Geoff Bodine & Mike Garvey Start & Park in the Qualifying race...pathetic...and perhaps a first in the Duels. 16. jp posted: 09.22.2009 - 5:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 18fan, I have another way that's less confusing: the top 15 advances, with positions 31-40 in the 500 being determined by their starting spot in the duels. Positions 41-43 are determined with Past Champion Provisional. So that means, and this may sound absurd, but Bodine made the show under my way. 17. Just a few months later his infamous drug suspension would end his career. This was Mayfield's last top-10 in any NASCAR race. 19.
