Took out a very good Wood Brothers car. 5. The Final Gear posted: 02.21.2013 - 3:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Glad that the 87, 26 and 95. The 95 will probably be a full timer next year if this season goes well. Quick Notes: - Whatever the 42 did to the car at the end has teams everywhere on notice. I don't know if they hit the "right setup" late or if the tires at the end really helped. - 14 is fast, he can move everywhere that he wants. He protected the 10 for most of the race to save his cash cow for the front row. He's going to be a contender for the 500 like he usually is. - 29 is probably the strongest car here, and the 16 is likely the 2nd. Both are extremely fast. 29 has to be the 500 favorite right now. - I don't believe for a minute that the Hendrick guys "tuned down" their engines like Larry Mac suggested. I don't believe that the Hendrick cars are strong at all. Midpack right now in terms of Superspeedway setup. - Protecting the 10 just came back to bite them. I realize that they were protecting her the entire race but she has hardly any experience in the draft with the gen 6 car. She looked very uncompetitive and struggled hanging with the draft at parts. She doesn't know how to set up for the draft. They need to make a lot of changes on Friday if she wants to be a contender. - Not to be a moaner but DW needs to stop talking about the 10 so often. There are other guys in the race and it seems he has found a new favorite driver. The 88 was hardly mentioned at all. - Top line is the way to go and if you side draft appropriately, the middle line is even usable. 6. Kevin Harvick follows up his Sprint Unlimited victory with a win in his Duel. No one has ever won the Shootout/Unlimited, Twin 125/Duel and the 500 in the same year but he'll have a shot. Danica Patrick starts from the pole but fades fast, doesn't lead a lap and doesn't even finish in a spot that would have transfered her into the field. Some of that could be attributed to saving the car for the 500 though, why risk it when you already have the best spot on the grid. 7. He then got bumped up into the field when NASCAR penalized Martin Truex, Jr. because the #56 NAPA Toyota lost its right-side window at the end of the race and was bumped back to last car on the lead lap. 8. joey2448 posted: 02.21.2013 - 4:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I said this on the Daytona 500 page, but Kevin Harvick looks like Dale Jr. ala Speedweeks 2003. He's even driving a Budweiser car! Let's see him get the Speedweeks sweep! Really unfortunate that Trevor Bayne got taken out. He had a fast #21 Ford. I'm really surprised everyone made it through the final four laps without wrecking! I'm glad they did, but it was pretty hairy there at the end! Greg Biffle was doing some amazing side-drafting in the turns. 9. Brandon posted: 02.21.2013 - 4:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The #26 Waltrip is owned by Brandon Davis 10. It would make sense, as that was Jimmy's number. 20. ch posted: 02.21.2013 - 7:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) They just used the #52 for the points. It was 100% Keselowski's own effort. 21. It was a good race and i'm just wondering if anyone thinks dale jr has at least a possibility to win this year. 22. 1995z71 posted: 02.21.2013 - 9:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @ #21 It's Daytona, anything is possible here. Every man in this field has a shot to win the 500, heck even Scott Speed. @ #6 Listen to the Denny Hamlin interview he explains how Edwards affected his car. Edwards slipped up two lanes right next to Hamlin getting Hamlin loose. 23. 18fan posted: 02.21.2013 - 10:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think FOX actually paid as much if not more attention to Michael Waltrip in the final few laps as they did to the leaders. 24. However, it's the 15th Duel win for Richard Childress Racing which is the most all time for an owner. 2nd is HMS with 10, which means Dale Earnhardt's 11 (of 12 in his career) Daytona qualifying race wins wins would be enough by itself to put RCR #1. It's Harvick's 7th career win at Daytona: 2 Cup (2007 D500, 2010 night race), 1 NNS (2007 season opener), 3 Unlimited (2009, 2010, 2013) and now 1 Duel win. 26.
