The best thing about going is to enjoy the sunshine and get home before 9:00pm (I live in Tampa). I have been to the duals for the last 8 years, but with the switch to night that will no longer be a option. Cant miss two days of work this time of year. I know NASCAR doesn't care about one fan, but THe way things are changing racing will be just on TV and the people who supported this sport for years are going to be left out in the cold. I really mean the cold. Night time in Florida can get to the 30's. 5. I don't like it when NASCAR switches some races to night. When the Daytona 500 began finishing at night, it just didn't seem like THE Daytona 500 anymore. There's just something about it when the winner gets out in victory lane under the bright sunshine...Same thing goes for the season finale in Homestead-Miami. When the championship ends at night, things just seem more depressing. Today's races were good, in my opinion. Not great, outstandings, amazing...just good. There's a lot of complaining going on, but I think the racing will be good on Sunday. 7. 83andJoe posted: 02.21.2013 - 5:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #33 owner: Richard Childress 8. Unfortunately, those will have to be worked out in the 500 on Sunday which is going to be another "test" session. It is similar to the NFL having to rely on replacement refs for the Super Bowl. This is definitely a setback, barring rule changes to give the cars more grip, spoiler angle, restrictor plate size, etc. before the race Sunday. Night Duels make no sense at all, unless the 500 is scheduled like the Coke World 600. They will not boost ratings unless FOX carries them in the evening, so what we have is another gimmick. 9. 83andJoe posted: 02.21.2013 - 6:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) To the rear: #35 (engine change). 10. 83andJoe posted: 02.21.2013 - 6:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) >They will not boost ratings unless FOX carries them in the evening Which is why they're being switched to night - they'll be on Fox in prime time. 11. While I don't live in Florida, I know that Florida was in the 30's for Sunday Night. 12. DaleSrFanForever posted: 02.21.2013 - 6:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) ING! 13. I know everyone wants to pin this on NASCAR, but it was the Daytona officials that made the change. 15. 1995z71 posted: 02.21.2013 - 9:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) I never understood why having the Duels on Thursday afternoons when every normal human is working. Smart move switching them to night races. 16. Cornys posted: 02.21.2013 - 10:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Night duels will be much better. Sorry. The majority of the audiance is on TV, and they are largely ignored with races through the week in the middle of the day. It just makes sense. 17. It's his 5th career Daytona win overall: 1 Cup (2008 night race), 1 NNS (2007), 1 Unlimited (2012) and his 2 Duel wins. Austin Dillon and Josh Wise qualify for their first Daytona 500's. Mike Bliss DNQ's for the Daytona 500 for the first time since 2007, and is now 3-for-5 in qualifying for the 500 in his career. 20. Although it was not an official race, a great run for Austin Dillon. 21. Maybe Nate is like I was during my school-aged years when I had to miss the Duels every single year because I had school. Some of us are actually life long race fans, and not wet behind the ear NASCAR Fans. 23. Spen posted: 02.23.2013 - 1:45 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) I almost always miss the twin's due to work.
