Adding insult to injury he blew a tire after smoking it coming in for the pass through. His night did improve as he was far enough back he missed the big one on the last lap. Michael Waltrip nailed the inside wall then spun into a dangerous collision with an opening in the pit wall during the last lap Big One. His #66 fell out of a transfer spot due to the crash but had the 2013 points from the #56 car to fall back on. 8. ch posted: 02.20.2014 - 11:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor Changes: 7 - Pilot / Flying J 24 - Drive to End Hunger / AARP 35 - Hefty Ultimate With Arm & Hammer 40 - CarsForSale.com 51 - Brandt 66 - BlueDEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid 9. ch posted: 02.20.2014 - 11:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Owner Changes: 33 - Joe Falk 66 - Jay Robinson 10. He didn't make the race but he ran better than you'd think in this race, he was in the pack drafting for most of it and always had somebody behind him. 14. 23andJoe posted: 02.20.2014 - 11:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #24 sponsor: Drive to End Hunger/AARP #33 sponsor: Whitetail Club #35 sponsor: Hefty Ultimate/Arm & Hammer (Reynolds Wrap was only on the rear decklid) #40 sponsor: Carsforsale.com #7 sponsor: Flying J/Pilot Travel Centers #66 sponsor: BlueDEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid 15. Adding insult to injury he blew a tire after smoking it coming in for the pass through. His night did improve as he was far enough back he missed the big one on the last lap. Then he got further insult to injury after the race was over. As the fastest qualifier that had to fall back on his speed, he'll start 33rd. If he was on the outside row, he might have started about 24th with all the drivers that will have to pull out back-up cars for Sunday. I would suspect that at least the 78,15,48,34 will all be in back-up cars and thus have to go to the rear of the field. There may be others as well depending on the severity of their damage. 17. ch posted: 02.21.2014 - 12:11 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Agreed on the 33, disagreed on the 66. 66 is an MWR car, Nemechek will be using the number." Per NASCAR: "The points from the #55 Michael Waltrip car last season will go to the #66 car of Robinson Racing Team. That car is being shared by MWR and Jay Robinson Racing." Even if the car is prepared and run by MWR this week, the car is owned by Robinson Racing Team in NASCAR's eyes, and should be listed consistent with the official data. 18. 1995z71 posted: 02.21.2014 - 12:45 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) According to the official entry list the #66 is owned by Jay Robinson & not Michael Waltrip. ch is right. 19. 23andJoe posted: 02.21.2014 - 12:55 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) I personally believe the owners should reflect the owner that's /actually fielding the car/, not what the John Hancock on the entry blank says for points reasons. 20. bduddy posted: 02.21.2014 - 1:54 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) How exactly do you run out of fuel in a Duel race? 21. 18fan posted: 02.21.2014 - 2:33 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Trying to gain a little tiny advantage that would be rendered meaningless. The Labonte brothers mostly held back in this one, with Bobby looking at getting the past champ's provisional because of Kurt Busch's great run. When the Big One occurred they dodged through it to claim the spots in the field. On the other side of the coin it was a rough night for the Truex Brothers. Martin had his front row car destroyed and now will likely lose his #2 starting spot going to a backup. Ryan Truex, starting his first full-time Cup season, meanwhile wasn't even that lucky as his Borla Exhaust #83 (with a slick black with flaming side pipes paint job) straight up DNQed. 24. If we're going to go along with that though, then the 66 should be listed as owned by Joe Nemechek, since the other Robinson/Nemechek car 87 is listed as a Joe Nemechek entry on here. If that's not a sponsor logo location I don't know what is. "Also, for the #66, Nemechek is driving for Robinson, but has no ownership. The #87 is Identity Venture Racing with Nemechek as founder and part owner, and Robinson as an just an investor." Bullshit. Nemechek & Robinson are co-owners of Identity Ventures Racing which will field the 66 & the 87. You have no idea what you're talking about. "35 Sponsor - Hefty Ultimate With Arm & Hammer The name of the product that was sponsoring the car was this, and the arm and hammer logo was prominently placed on the hood. Back of the car. If that's not a sponsor logo location I don't know what is." If you mean the TV Panel, then I could not see it from the photos that I looked at. Either way, Racing Reference has never included a sponsor for just being on the TV Panel. "Bullsh*t. Nemechek & Robinson are co-owners of Identity Ventures Racing which will field the 66 & the 87. You have no idea what you're talking about." Yes, Nemechek and Robinson are co-owners of IVR which will field the #87. This is because the new investors purchased equity into NEMCO-JRR which both Nemechek and Robinson were the previous owners. Robinson Racing Team will field the #66 in conjunction with MWR. Go back and look at the press release, and it will say that Robinson, the owner, "has tabbed veteran Joe Nemechek to drive for" the team. Just to drive, not as a part owner... "The deck lid is also a sponsor location. It's Hefty Ultimate/Reynolds Wrap." Same situation as the TV panel. Racing Reference has never included a sponsor just for being on the decklid. It has always been hood / sides and possible the quarter panels if the company is prominent enough. 35. In my opinion a sponsor is anything that's on the hood, side, back, or decklid. If it's more than 3, you use the ones on the hood & side. For the Daytona 500, with its prestige, the sponsor & owner listings should be as accurate as possible. "Yes, Nemechek and Robinson are co-owners of IVR which will field the #87. Press releases lie. Robinson & Nemechek obviously are fielding the 66. Jay Robinson no longer has his own race team, he's in with Nemechek. 36.
