David Ragan is currently locked in with his speed, however he can still
advance and improve his starting spot through the duel. If he does, Kaz
Grala will be next in on speed.

After Duel 1, Almirola keeps his 3rd place starting position for the
Daytona 500, as he dominates a clean and fast 150 miles. Now, Bubba
Wallace in his new 23XI racing will lead the field to green.

In what is Derrike Cope's final Daytona 500 run, he will start in the
back, and needs to race his way up front to get into the race.

Crash, it's Grala, Alfredo, Briscoe, Smithley, and others... if they're
too damaged to continue or be competitive that basically means that
Gragson and Ragan will be in the 500 unless Ragan races in and then
Grala gets in.

Oddly enough, Kurt Busch still finished 9th. I saw him in turn 3 somehow
in the middle of the pack.

Daytona 500 had the exact same top 2 as this duel. Ragan and Grala are in.

For someone who watched this race, how badly damaged was the #62? I'm
wondering if they might try to fix it and try again at Talladega, or if
it's so badly damaged that they're probably done for good.


Random Tidbit: In both of Austin Dillon's Daytona wins, Bubba Wallace
finished 2nd.

@147 He got left side damage when Keselowski hit him, causing him to hit
the wall just before turn one. Then the whole front of the car was
dragging which sent him straight up into the turn one wall. When he was
coming to a stop the front was narrower than the back, and he appeared
to have suspension damage to both front tires, and the front wheels were

149 - So someone else caught this too. The broadcasters never mentioned
it as the sword past Cope's car on the back stretch as Austin Dillon
made his move to the inside of Truex. If Truex had even attempted to
block, good chance they could have slammed into the back of Cope who
appeared to only be traveling about 30 mph. The was a totally
embarrassing performance by Cope last night who was lapped early on and
noticeably off the pace the entire night
