Why, in the name of everything holy, was the Winston Open 200 miles long?! 8. Rob Moroso showed that he was able to run up front and would be a future star but we never got to see it happen. 9. Instead they only picked up the coverage for about the last 30 laps with Dick Tickle, Rob Moroso and Ernie Irvan's battle for the lead. They went three-wide at one point with Moroso prevailing before Trickle rallied to win. 11. He was leading with two to go when Moroso got a run and nipped him as they took the white flag. They were side-by-side swapping the lead on the last lap, Moroso led as late as going through Turn 4 before Trickle got him at the line in a photo finish. Sadly this would be Trickle's only win in a Cup race and the only time Moroso would come close to a win in one. Polesitter Ernie Irvan led the most laps but had to settle for third right behind the battle for the win. 1990 would be the last year he raced he didn't make the Winston, he picked up his first career win later in the year and wouldn't run the Open again. 12. No idea who his car owner was either. 15. RaceFanX posted: 12.28.2018 - 9:52 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor: #99 Kenny Wallace- Hope Motorsports (owner: Randy Hope) 16. The two-time NASCAR Busch champ had a surprisingly good run as his first outing in Bill Edwards' #88 Pontiac saw him qualify and finish in the top-10. The team likely was a shoestring effort, the car looked like one of Buddy Baker's #88 Crisco Pontiacs with an only slightly repainted rear end, and it wouldn't last long. Pearson put the #88 in the field for the Coca-Cola 600 but blew a motor on lap 3 and finished last; the team shut down not long afterward. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
