1.) Darrell Waltrip - 2/89 Daytona
2.) Rusty Wallace - 3/89 Rockingham
3.) Harry Gant - 4/89 Darlington
4.) Dale Earnhardt - 4/89 North Wilkesboro
5.) Davey Allison - 5/89 Talladega
6.) Ricky Rudd - 6/89 Sears Point
7.) Terry Labonte - 6/89 Pocono
8.) Bill Elliott - 6/89 Michigan
9.) Ken Schrader - 10/89 Charlotte
10.) Geoff Bodine - 10/89 North Wilkesboro

Lap Leaders: Earnhardt 1-70

The late Dick Trickle wins the Open to make his only Winston start. His
only chance to run the big race netted him a top-10 though.

A good win for Earnhardt and also possibly the most boring The Winston
that was ever run.

This has to be the most boring edition of the The Winston that was ever
run. If I was a fan I would've wanted a full refund after watching this
race. Who would possibly think this was a good/exciting race at all?

You could definitely see why they were seriously considering cancelling
the all-star race altogether after this debacle.

Thankfully, the 1992 event with Davey Allison's win under the lights
saved the race from extinction.

There was also a caution at lap 54 for oil on the track in turn 1.
Caution laps did not count.
