Jeff Gordon was extremely disheartened and very confused at the crash
based on his interview. He had the field covered by a long ways.

Dave Marcis also endured a very hard crash later that night when his car
skid in turn 4 and smashed the wall when he tried to correct but I
believe he was a-ok.

5 cars ended up transferring from this event, more than any other year
prior allowing Rick Mast to have at least a few moments of limelight in
the big event, winning segment 2 of 3.

Bill Venturini did not start in the open due to a practice crash. Had to
be transported to the hospital, xrays were negative, said he was going
to be ok but the car wasn't.

Mike Joy along with Neil Bonnett and Buddy Baker were the commentators.
Glenn Jarrett and Randy Pemberton were the pit road reporters. The hosts
for the event were Katie Haas and Ricky Van Shelton.
