Kenny was so mad at Jimmy that he slammed his car into Spencer's as they were driving away from the accident scene. 5. He didn't really recover physically from this injury for the rest of the year. The team never recovered, and this led to a downward spiral. 6. stricklinfan82 posted: 04.28.2008 - 10:36 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Eligibility Requirements for the 1995 All-Star Race: - all active 1994 and 1995 race winning drivers: 1.) Dale Earnhardt drove the famous Winston 25th anniversary silver car not the "silver Bullet". 9. He was working on one of his NCTS trucks and one of his crew guys cranked it up, not knowing that Schrader had his hand down in the engine. Despite that, he went on to finish second in the Open and ran well in the Winston before being dumped by Jimmy Spencer. Then in the Coke 600, he absolutely dominated and looked to be on his way to winning when the engine blew. 10. Earnhardt's aggressive driving self got the best of him here even though he did walk away as did Darrell. When he tried to do what he did here at a superspeedway at Daytona in 2001 with Sterling Marlin and blocking him off, it'd eventually cost Dale his life. Anyone see a coincidence? 11. Nowadays we've got dozen of them at every race and the majority of teams run multisponsor operations, so you can't recognize your favourite driver. 12. This ruined his line into turn 3, which caused his car to wash up the track. Waltrip was still on his outside, making the rear end light, and with the extra steering input caused by the narrow entry, the car broke loose. Also a possible factor in the incident is this was the first race after Nascar had taken a half inch of rear spoiler and front air dam away from the chevys, in an attempt to even the playing field or to mollify the ford teams, depending on your point of view. 15. 23andJoe posted: 10.23.2014 - 1:14 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Also to the rear: #23 Jimmy Spencer (missed drivers' meeting) 16. 23andJoe posted: 10.23.2014 - 2:18 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Leaders: Rusty Wallace 1, Dale Earnhardt 2-5, Jeff Gordon 6-30; Robert Pressley 31-46; Gordon 47-70 Cautions: Lap 30 (End Segment 1) Lap 33-36 (#23, #25, #3, #5 accident turn 2) Lap 40-43 (#23, #6, #75, #28 accident turn 4) Lap 60 (end segment 2) Lap 60 (#17 jumped restart) Lap 60 (#3, #17, #18, #9 accident turn 4) 17. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 05.03.2015 - 2:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Good try 23andJoe, but you're a tad off Segment 1: Lap 1-30 was all green Caution 1: Lap 31: end segment 1 (caution laps do not count in segment endings) Caution 2: Lap 33-36: #3,5,23,25 accident turn 2 Caution 3: Lap 40-43: #6,23,28,75 accident turn 4 Caution 4: Lap 61: end segment 2 (caution laps do not count in segment endings) Caution 5: Lap 61: #17 jumped restart Caution 6: Lap 61: #3,9,17,18 accident turn 4 (Caution flags do not count during the final segment) But good try though. 18. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 05.04.2015 - 4:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) there are green laps you need to make corrections to Lap 31-32 Lap 44-60 19. He fielded a car every year possible through the 2003 season trying to get in by the Winston Open route due to not winning a points race. Mike Wallace gets the car in by finishing 4th in the Open and ends up on the lead lap with a respectable 8th place finish in the Winston Select. Buddy Baker after Mike Wallace finished 4th in the Open to get in. "I'll bet you Junie Donlavey is down there dancing all over the place." 20. He broke three ribs in the wreck and had the wind knocked out of him. He said the TV doesn't do justice on how hard he hit the wall. 21. RaceFanX posted: 02.03.2021 - 10:26 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The car in the RCR Museum indeed is Dale Earnhardt's real "Quicksilver" #3 Chevrolet from this race. The historic "Silver Streak," as the team dubbed the car, was repaired after its famous crash here and today is preserved alongside a full collection of Earnhardt's 1990s all-star race cars all still clad in their special paint jobs; a fine tribute to the trend this car largely kicked off. IIRC there was a push for years for Earnhardt to change the paint scheme up on the #3 Goodwrench Chevrolet. He agreed to run the silver car once for this race because it was just a non-points race but the car, and all the merchandise that was sold featuring it, popularized the idea of special paint schemes. It was a trend who's time had come, even before this race Bill Elliott and McDonald's already had a deal in place for the following week's Coca-Cola 600 to turn their red #94 Ford Thunderbird black and green as the "Thunderbat" as part of McDonald's tie-in promotion with the release of the blockbuster movie "Batman Forever." Special paint schemes in the Winston became a very big deal in the following years as many of the sports top drivers starting doing one-off liveries for this race. Jeff Gordon became the first driver to win the Winston using one in 1997. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
