It was Derrike Cope, in the #37 Friendly's Ice Cream Chevrolet. 2. BurtonRuddFan posted: 12.05.2007 - 10:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Burton had a easy run. Ana Glenn was Carl Long's car owner As noted above, Derrike Cope's sponsor in this race was Friendly's Ice Cream 4. He DNQed for the 600, ran at Dover, and didn't qualify for any further races. 7. Both would have problems in the opening laps here... Park's RCR debut started with him winning the pole but he jumped the start and got black flagged immediately. He led the first lap despite a caution for Mike Wallace spinning but had to pit for the flag and dropped from contention. Todd Bodine took the lead when Park was black flagged but didn't stay up front long. On the restart Jeff Green and Brett Bodine made contact causing Green to spin and collect Jeremy Mayfield. As this occurred Kenny Wallace passed Bodine for the lead and Todd was shuffled back but the tv cameras missed how he crashed though. Off camera Bodine got into Tony Raines as the two battled for a spot in the top-4 and he lost it, going hard into the inside wall crushing the front of his #54 Ford. FX race announcer Larry McReynolds even noted Todd might have had the car to beat for this race, he previously raced into the Winston successfully in 1995 and 2001. Dave Blaney finishes runner up in a mean black-and-green Ford painted to look like a cat. They even decaled a big mouth across the front of the car. Still only race winner Jeff Burton got to advance into the big show so Blaney ended up on the outside looking in. This was Mike Wallace's first race in the #01 Pontiac filling in for the injured Jerry Nadeau. He ran his first points race with the team the following week in the Coke 600 and remained with them through Pocono in July. 10. His last points-paying Cup win in the 99 had come a little under a year and a half earlier at Phoenix in November 2001, though he won five Busch (now Xfinity) races in 2002 in the No. 9 Gain car (in one of the most overlooked great campaigns, Cup driver or not, in that series' history). 12. Mike Joy had a bit of a foot in mouth moment during qualifying, as he originally had said that the 71 of Lepage was a Dave Marcis car. Joy quickly corrected himself, and DW rubbed it in a little by saying, "the easiest way to tell it's not Dave Marcis', because it's a Ford". ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
