Lap Leaders: Denny Hamlin 1, Scott Riggs 2-30

This was Denny Hamlin's only time in the Winston Open, he was already a
Cup winner after his upset in the Bud Shootout earlier in the year but
that non-points race doesn't count for getting into the All-Star race.
His first points win at Pocono later in the year punched his ticket
direct into the 2007 race.

To the rear - 38 - adjustments outside of impound/pitting before the green

Sadler crashed on his qualifying lap, and the team elected to repair the
car instead of pulling out the backup car. He made an admirable charge
through the field, but at just 30 laps (and two unplanned cautions
thrown in there) he just plain ran out of time.

First caution - laps 5-7 - 42 accident frontstretch
Second caution - laps 14-16 - 78 spun frontstretch
Third caution - lap 20 - 4 accident turn 2/segment 1 end

Mike Joy along with Larry McReynolds and Darrell Waltrip were the
commentators. Dr. Dick Berggren along with Steve Byrnes and Matt Yocum
were the pit road reporters. Chris Myers and Jeff Hammond were in the
Hollywood hotel.
