As with all events during the 2007 All-star weekend, all the walls were painted bright yellow for sponsor NEXTEL. They were completely repainted back to the standard white for the next week's Busch and Cup events. 6. Great finish though between Truex and Edwards! Edwards had the best car but the handling went away and to everyones surprise Johnny Sauter advanced! 7. But as for a stock car, the dude is as good as a geek's sperm. 9. Before the Open NASCAR and the track held the Kobalt Crew Chiefs Race giving the guys atop the box or in the booth a chance to race Thunder Roadsters against each other. Former part-time NASCAR racer Andy Petree won the race going away and led every lap in the process as Chad Knaus finished 2nd. Alan Gustafson, then Kyle Busch's crew chief, stole the show with a wild crash on the opening lap that got him airborne after contact with Scott "Flash" Naset of Kevin Harvick's crew. I would research up an entry for this site on that special race but as far as I can tell NASCAR and the speedway did not officially score it beyond keeping track of who won and video footage from Speed's coverage proved inconclusive in getting a finishing order (I don't think they showed one or I couldn't find footage of it). 12. Jon Wood's only attempt at the All-Star race is over in less than a lap, finishing last. He has to have the shortest tenure of anyone who ever attempted this race and actually made it to the start line. 19. SK posted: 03.10.2019 - 5:24 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sauter had picked up 13 spots by the time the second caution flew (20th to 7th) and was flying during the second segment, but once he caught up to Truex it was Martin who suddenly made the big pass on Edwards up high and drove away, while Sauter had to take care of Edwards on his own and spend the next few laps making one last run at Truex, getting side by side on the final lap before finishing the race on the 99's tail. Johnny would go on to finish 6th that night in his only All-Star Challenge appearance.
