They could just be after a little extra cash. Last place in 2015 (when
earnings were still released) paid 18 grand to Mike Bliss, who ran 6 laps

@2 - I'm not sure why that's particularly interesting. We only have 5
regular Toyota teams altogether, and 3 of them are driven by proven
veterans who are among the top drivers in Cup right now (Kyle Busch,
Denny Hamlin, and Martin Truex Jr. all rank among the top 8 active Cup
winners).

What was the deadline to vote?

I would think Bowman would be a favorite if the ballot was still open
the last few weeks. Even if it was cut off before that, he'd still be a
pretty strong candidate.

Follow him on Facebook. He is one of the least professional businessmen
I've ever seen. He called out all of his young employees (which it

im voting for Bowman. he deserves it after his string of strong finishes
lately. Meanwhile Larson or maybe even Daniel Suarez will win the race.
remember that Suarez finished 2nd in the all star race last year.

This has been quite the race. Most memorable open in the time I've been
watching NASCAR (since 1999). There's been some exciting finishes
(Vickers & Bliss, Elliott and Larson) but there's been a lot going on in
this one.

Bowman the Showman is fast becoming a fan favorite. Great to see Larson,

To recap: William Byron (stage 1 winner), Bubba Wallace (stage 2 winner)
and Kyle Larson (stage 3 winner) all earned their way into the 2019
All-Star race, while Alex Bowman was the recipient of the fan vote.

They all did quite well, actually, in the big event. Larson became just
the fourth driver (correct me if wrong) to qualify into the All-Star
race, then win the whole thing, following Michael Waltrip (1996), Ryan
Newman (2002) and Kasey Kahne (2008 fan vote). Bubba Wallace ended up
finishing fifth in the All-Star race, Bowman was eighth and Byron was
ninth. All top-10 finishes in the A-main.

The finishes to the first two stages in this race were really wild.
Byron won the first stage by slipping by Wallace coming to the finish
line, then in stage two, Wallace blocked Suarez so low that he ended up
spinning Suarez out coming to the finish. Stage three featured a rather
tame finish by comparison.

Can't say I was a fan of Bubba putting both Suarez and Byron in the
grass on purpose or Hemric running Preece into the wall twice in one lap.

Also, only 15 cars finished this race. Super high attrition rate.

Ex-driver Bill Lester is on Twitter today demanding an explanation from
"corporate America" as to why they dare still refuse to send big money
Bubba's way after his big win yesterday.

Of course Bill knows full well that the answer is "racism", at least
that's the answer in his fevered imagination anyway, but the real reason
is that winning one lousy stage in one lousy exhibition race with nearly
20 better cars and drivers not participating proves.... not a whole damn
lot.

Yes Bubba wound up 5th in the main event, and that was nice to see him
do so well for a change, but when he can consistently do even half as
well in real races then get back to us with your demands, Bill.

Or you could open your eyes and realize the competitive depth of the #43
team is nothing like what he's running against on a weekly basis. I
think most fans understand that Wallace is a good young talent, simply
look at his wins in the Truck series at places like Martinsville and
Eldora, plus his win at Michigan in the #99 ride! He truly gets the most
out of his equipment.

If this were a different young driver, I think it's very realistic to
believe they would be taking offers from bigger and better teams, but
this is the America we live in.

Stephen A. Smith once had Bill Lester on one of his shows about ten
years back and Smith asked Lester about the rebel flag being in NASCAR.
Lester responded that it was the fans' heritage more so than anything
else. He seemed to want to be politically correct more so than anything
else at the time. Perhaps he has changed some.

Mike Joy, Darrell Waltrip and Jeff Gordon were the commentators. Matt
Yocum, Vince Welch and Jamie Little were the pit road reporters. Larry
McReynolds was the in-race analyst.
