The joking pink livery with bright green numbers featured multiple Internet meme-themed messages including declaring "Busch Beer AF" on the hood, "Busch is Bae" on the side, and featuring a Busch Beer can with the Snapchat dog filter over it. Everyone is in on the joke no one actually thinks millennials think this way but they are having some fun with it. 5. RaceFanX posted: 05.14.2019 - 3:08 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) It's intended to be playful joking about stereotypes of the younger generation. Avocado toast is getting popular at the moment, and they made Harvick eat some as part of this promotion, but no one out thinks that absolutely all millennials love the stuff. It's like all those jokes about how NASCAR's fans are all rednecks who want to see big crashes, there are plenty who are but we all know not all of them are like that. 7. Mile501 posted: 05.14.2019 - 4:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @3 - Comment 1 is correct. There are just 15 cars eligible for the All-Star Race, so the total number of teams including the open winners and the fan vote winner will be 19. In fact, this will be the smallest field in an All-Star Race in over 30 years. In the first few years of the race (1985-1988), the field tended to be small. After that, various rules were put into place to guarantee a field size of at least 20. Alex Bowman had the best chance in recent weeks to give us a field size of 20 again this year, but it didn't quite happen. 9. Nucl3arWa4le posted: 05.14.2019 - 8:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) My bad. Didn't see the entry list. 10. George posted: 05.17.2019 - 2:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Based on the All Star practice results (one anomalous lap in p2 from Austin Dillon aside) it looks like those who were crying their eyes out about the racing package for the last couple of weeks will be so much happier this week and next at Charlotte. No Chevy, aside from Dillon's fluke in p2 and his 9th place lap in p1, could even sniff the top 10 so things seem to be back to "normal". 11. David posted: 05.17.2019 - 2:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I believe that NASCAR has a variety of different packages and is not running exactly the same thing at all 1.5 mile tracks, so it's highly possible that Kansas & Charlotte are not being treated the same. If that is the case, I wonder what tweaks NASCAR made after Kansas to placate the post-Kansas complainers despite the fact that damn near everyone (the fans I mean, not certain crybaby drivers) thought it was by far the best race of 2019? 12. A.J. posted: 05.17.2019 - 2:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) I don't know, but leave it to NASCAR to FINALLY stumble upon something that works to create interesting racing..... .....and then immediately abandon it. 13. Ralphie posted: 05.17.2019 - 3:00 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Um, do we even know for sure that NASCAR will be using the same package this weekend as they will be using in the 600 a week later? NASCAR has tended in recent years to use the All star race for experimentation, which has sometimes led to the most god-awful boring racing. I'm sure the top Ford & Toyota teams are lobbying to change nothing right about now, but I suppose that doesn't necessarily mean it won't happen anyway. It's just that you can't always go by what happens in the All star race because of the very brief segments, other unique rules, and the possible experimentation with things. 14. Canadianfan posted: 05.17.2019 - 3:39 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) No this package is for the All-Star race only. You could be looking at what they try in 2020. Ultimately this is just a Band-Aid until 2021 with the new car and 2022/23 with the new engine. 15. Corey posted: 05.17.2019 - 5:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) There are two technical rule changes for the All-Star race this year. 1. They will be using a single piece carbon fiber splitter/pan that should offer a dramatic improvement in ride hide sensitivity. 2. The cars will also have a radiator exit duct through the hood. This should separate aerodynamic performance and engine temperatures. Neither of these were used at Kansas and neither will be used at the 600. 16. possum posted: 05.17.2019 - 5:16 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @11 - this is correct. NASCAR has several variations of the aero and restrictor place (aka tapered spacer) which they can mix-and-match for different tracks, and, of course, they can create new variations whenever they chose. The teams are not thrilled with this, because they'd rather run one car everywhere (which was promised when the CoT came out, oh so many years ago). Unfortunately, the rationale NASCAR uses to decide what package to run at what track seems somewhat flawed, altho they did luck into a good combination at Kansas. @15 - I will be interested to see how the hood exit works. If done wrong, it will duct hot air into the engine intake, which will at a minimum cut power and may hurt reliability. 17. wisconsinracefan posted: 05.17.2019 - 7:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What NASCAR does not get with their rule packages is not all of them work for each track. The rule package that worked great Kansas really didn't work well at Auto Club Speedway because of how old the surface is. 18. Tarheel posted: 05.17.2019 - 7:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 17, boom! Exactly. The new package is good for tracks with relatively new surfaces and little tire wear. It was good at Texas, Kansas, I think it will be good in the 600, and I'm looking forward to Michigan. I could swear that when Nascar first announced this package last year, they said it would only be used at certain tracks, and not used at tracks such as Atlanta, Fontana, Darlington, etc. High tire wear combined with high horsepower and low downforce was working just fine at those types of tracks. I also wish they wouldn't have increased the spoiler height at the tracks one mile or smaller, last years package was better on those tracks too. 19. KyleBrown posted: 05.18.2019 - 12:20 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) ^ They aren't used for short tracks. That's what they meant. 20. Tarheel posted: 05.18.2019 - 5:26 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 19, the taller spoilers are used everywhere this year. Last years engine package is still used at tracks a mile or smaller. 21. wisconsinracefan posted: 05.18.2019 - 1:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @19, I know where the rule package is used. I was not referring to Short tracks. I was referring to rule packages that involved 550 horse power. I mentioned Auto Club Speedway and Kansas for a reason. The other reason is I used the word "rule packages" is the amount NASCAR can use in a single season. When I use the term rule packages, I think of Engines, spoilers, Areo ducts, etc. The 750 horsepower rule package is used more than 1 mile tracks and short tracks. It is used for Road Courses and the Charlotte Roval. The only with the 750 rule package is they use the same spoiler height as the 550 horsepower tracks not named Talladega and Daytona. NASCAR this year has 5 rule packages with 2 already gone aka restrictor plate and the 550 horsepower without areo ducts. The only packages are left the Daytona and Talladega rule packages, the 750 horsepower for an with the same spoiler height with the 550 horsepower rule packages, and the 550 horsepower rule package with Areo ducts. The 750 horsepower rule package is a very bad rule package though with the spoiler size being the same as 550 horsepower rule package. The Spoiler package in question can be good for bigger sized ovals. I actually don't get why NASCAR needs a larger spoiler for short tracks, 1 mile tracks and road courses since a lot of those tracks were based on mechanical group. 22. He didn't throw any after Newman confronted him that's for sure. As pathetic as Bowyer was it did at least feel like the old NASCAR last night and the race wasn't too bad like All-Star races have been in prior years. Nothing has topped the 1992 race. The 1987 and 1989 races are right there as well. 115. Greg9Fan posted: 05.19.2019 - 10:11 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Race was alright. Not a classic, but not necessarily boring either. I will admit, I do miss the gimmick aspect of the all-star race. That to me is what made it exciting. This is just straight up race with short stages. 116. For one, it's like a short work week because everyone is in NC for the Coke 600 anyhow, but also it now serves as an experiment for future packages. Some work and some don't, but there is no other All-Star event which allows the athletes free roam to do whatever they want for 100-ish laps. 119. Personally, I think we got everything we could want last night between the Open and the All-Star Race: photo finishes, good racing, beating and banging, spins, wrecks, pit/tire strategy, different leaders, comers-and-goers, fights, and a ton of competition all around. 120. What does the current entry list for this year's edition of the All-Star Race look like? 125. jethomps72 posted: 03.26.2020 - 10:33 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @124 -- If my count is correct, and I'm not missing any qualifying methods, I have 14 drivers currently qualified for the all-star (+ 4 transfers would make 18) Kurt Busch, Keselowski, Harvick, Elliott, Hamlin, Blaney, Kyle Busch, Truex, Jones, Logano, Larson, Johnson, Bowman, & Haley + stage winners & fan vote 126. Of course, that number will be expanded by the drivers who get in through the Open and the fan vote. 130. Yeet posted: 03.27.2020 - 4:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) ^ exactly. It also sets up for an interesting Open as well. Almirola, Bowyer, Byron, DiBenedetto aren't locked in yet. Also you never know who could be a sleeper like Wallace last year. If we can hopefully get this show on the road soon, it'll be a fun weekend. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
