Actually, between the Petty family, there are five cars entered. Richard's uncle & Lee's brother, J.H., had three cars entered, and Petty Engineering (which I presume is the Convertible division wing of Petty Enterprises), has two cars entered. 5. nascar_vd / Racing-Reference.info posted: 05.20.2017 - 11:14 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Driver standings after this race (top20): 1) Bob Welborn = 5560 2) Larry Frank = 4690 3) Ken Rush = 4118 4) Joe Weatherly = 4052 5) Glen Wood = 3368 6) Roy Tyner = 3350 7) Tiny Lund = 3302 8) Shep Langdon = 3220 9) Fred Harb = 3004 10) Neil Castles = 2984 11) Fireball Roberts = 2686 12) Bill Morton = 2522 13) Curtis Turner = 2426 14) Brownie King = 2308 15) Possum Jones = 2126 16) Buck Baker = 1886 17) Barney Shore = 1864 18) Wilbur Rakestraw = 1850 19) Lee Petty = 1626 20) Marvin Panch = 1574 Note: again two remaining races (for championship points) with two sweepstakes races (Convertible and Grand National) at Martinsville and Lakewood. 6. nascar_vd / racing-reference.info posted: 02.13.2018 - 11:52 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Note concerning the first caution period: The starting field run behind the pace car to pack the new dirt track surface. 7. possum posted: 01.23.2019 - 12:54 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @3 - odds are Lee was originally planning to run that race. When Lee and Richard both ran in the same race in 1958 Richard was usually in the #2 (easier to just paint out the 4 than to put a completely different number on it). In 59 when they built cars specifically for Richard they started using #43. 8. Larry Frank finished second in both this race and the title hunt and did not win a race all season. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
