The NASCAR Convertible Series makes its only visit to Maryland's
Marlboro Motor Speedway with the only major NASCAR outing at this track
producing a memorable finish. Polesiter Rex White dominated the first
half of the race before Jim Reed took control in the second half.
However just before the end the motor started going south on Reed's
Chevrolet. White zoomed past back into the lead with three laps to go
and won by a lap after Reed's motor failed completely on the white flag
lap.
