The only track from the first season still on the scedule today, in
NASCAR's 60th birthday!

62nd birthday, and pretty sad amount of cars running at the end and
racing. I thought someone crached out and died, but I don't know who,
possibly Martin...

The thing about Martinsville is that it's walls have NEVER been moved,
and other than it's paving in 1956, and adding concrete/curbing to the
lower grove in 1976, the track is the same as it was in 1949

awesomegordonfan, Otis Martin died in a traffic accident in 1955. I
don't think anyone was killed in this race.

The only track from the first year of NASCAR still running today, pretty
insane.

North Wilkesboro would join it if it wasn't stupidly dropped from the
schedule.

Photo evidence shows that Curtis Turner rolled his car in the race and
continued

No car number higher than 55 was used in this race.

Something no one has yet to comment: Red Byron's #22 is the first ever
repeat number to win in NASCAR.
