After this race Lee Petty, Tim Flock, Bill Blair, Glenn Dunnaway, Herb Thomas, Buck Baker and maybe some others were stripped of all points for participating in non-NASCAR stock car race. So the top-20 standings looked like this: 1. Curtis Turner 1034 2. Lloyd Moore 832 -201.5 3. Jimmy Florian 720 -313.5 4. Bill Rexford 490 -543.5 5. Chuck Mahoney 385 -648.5 6. Dick Burns 340 -693.5 7. Red Byron 315 -718.5 8. Dick Linder 303 -730.5 9. Clyde Minter 300 -733.5 10. Bob Flock 272.5 -761 11. Frank Mundy 215.5 -818 12. Art Lamey 200 -833.5 13. The 809 points matches what Chevy had posted Lee Petty having after the previous race. Also, I know it has been several years but great job Chevy on figuring out all the points for these races. You have helped clarify about a lot of stuff that happened. I didn't know about all the other drivers. The only ones I know for sure was Petty before this race, and Red Byron once earlier in the season and then a second time later in the season, though I'm not certain when. 5. Lee still finished third in the standings 561 points behind champion Bill Rexford. Had he not had his points stripped, Lee would have been the 1950 champion. 7. thog posted: 12.12.2020 - 8:32 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Bill Blair went out with a busted spindle on lap 145. Lee Petty and Glenn Dunnaway both dropped out on lap 175.
