This was common 200 point race. Lee Petty, Lloyd Moore and Dick Linder
mathematically eliminated themselves from the championship by not taking
part in this race. Moore's teammate Bill Rexford, 2nd in championship,
was also not present. Roberts, Turner and Byron all run into problems
and couldn't make any ground in championship.

First start and win for Leon Sales, who has to be one of the most
unnotable winners in NASCAR history.

A 12 year old spectator copped a broken leg from the lost wheel from
Minter's car.

Yes, 12 year old Peter Shaw broke his leg in this race. A wheel came off
of Minter's car and then while trying to avoid the wheel, Slick Smith
hit Peter Shaw.

This was the first race of the Strictly Stock/Grand National series to
not have at least one Ford in the field.
